What is this calcification below my hyoid? I know some of it is thyroid cartilage but it looks like calcified ligaments reaching towards hyoid? Also, do the lesser horns of hyoid look too large?

Your right side C1 transvers process looks a little larger than the left in those images, it may be due to the angle/ image quality though. And possibly very slightly tilted…

Looking at this image of the thyroid cartilage, I think you could be right & there could be some calcification of the lateral thyroid ligaments? It’s worth asking a doctor about, we have occasionally had members who’ve had issues with over calcified thyroid cartilage…

@HanaasMama - @Jules commented on your thyroid cartilage so I’ll comment on the greater horns of your hyoid. They look thick but very normal in length when they’re elongated, they can actually extend to the cervical spine. You have a good amount of space between your hyoid’s greater horns & your cervical spine.

Any idea what those floating pieces are between my thyroid cartilage and hyoid? @Isaiah_40_31

I believe they’re part of your thyroid cartilage. Just as the stylohyoid ligaments can calcify in little sections, not always in one long piece, so can the thyroid cartilage.
