I just did a quick search of forum posts using “sigmoid sinus diverticulum” as the search term & didn’t find anything that’s been posted about that specifically. Regardless, it sounds painful. Is that part of what’s causing the sigmoid sinus dehiscence & is it repairable?
Did Mr Axon discuss these both with you, if I remember right he can treat the dehiscence, would he be able to do the surgery with a vascular surgeon as well to treat the diverticulum at the same time? I guess these are important questions to ask, from a quick read it sounds like these both cause pulsatile tinnitus so sounds like both should be addressed if you were considering surgery?
It’s not something I’ve heard of though, nor know anything about, so only what I’ve just looked up!
my understanding is that the pressure in the sigmoid sinus created the dehiscence of the bone and the diverticulum was also created at the same time because there was no bone to contain the sigmoid sinus. It is operable.
Tx for reading my message.
yes, it is operable at the same time.
tx for reading my message.
That’s good to know ![]()
One thing sure leads to another, doesn’t it, @Hamela?! I’m glad both can be repaired in the same surgery. Hopefully your world will be a quieter place once the diverticulum & dehiscence are repaired. ![]()
You’ve done a great job advocating for yourself & continuing to search for an answer to your unresolved symptoms after your IJV decompression. I love what I’m learning from you. ![]()
Agreed, my long journey started with an IJV compression and it had a domino effect on my blood flow and likely caused that famous pouch (diverticulum) and dehiscence.
I need to thank you and @Jules for your constant support. I learn from both of you, and you also inspire me to continue my journey. I lost my father 3 months ago, I thought it was another bowling pin thrown in my alley, thank God I was able to connect with this supporting group to go on.
Sorry if I share too much personal information.
Big hugs !!
Audrey
I’m sorry for your loss, Audrey. Losing a parent, even as adults, is difficult especially when we’re close to them. I lost both of mine 10 years ago about 6 months a part so I know the grief that swirls around in the aftermath. I hope you’re able to focus on happy memories & thankfulness for the years you had together. ![]()
My father was 89. You are so right, I will focus on good memories and be grateful. I cant imagine what you have been through, loosing both your parents in such a short period of time ![]()

He was a good age, but it’s still hard losing a parent, we’re happy to support members with whatever they’re going through, you haven’t shared too much info at all ![]()
Thank you, Audrey. Your dad did live a nice long life. My parents both died at age 84 - still a decent old age!
