Do i have Eagles? My story

Jules thank you for always replying, it means alot to feel supported. I understand your logic, and also it is true most people in anything when they get a good result they dont care to leave a review its usually people with a negative experience. I just keep looking for positive stories because Dr. Kamran told me most of all his patients have zero complications and fly by within 10days, but when i read negative things I start to freak out. Is your story on here or maybe you can DM me it I would love to hear it. Also I want to add some youtube videos of postive outcomes I found that make me a little bit better of doing this. I am waiting to see what he says but I dont get why in the past month my dizziness has ramped up to daily with nothing seeming to help. I wonder if removing my wisdom teeth in March flared this up?

I also sent in a request for a video call with Dr. Osborn just for a second opinion.

I tried editing your links so they would go to the associated videos but only the last one does. I put a title w/ each one so anyone who’s interested can try looking them up since the videos ARE available on YouTube.

You need to bear in mind that Dr. Osborne doesn’t do vascular decompression of the IJV during styloidectomies. If shortening the styloid happens to be enough to give the IJV more space, & it opens on its own, then decompression occurs naturally. If C1 is a more dominant player in compression, he won’t do anything to C1 to give the styloid more space.

I do agree that it could well be the wisdom tooth surgery made your symptoms worse; it could be the pulling & tugging in your jaw area, or that nerves got aggravated perhaps?

I have no idea but it seems like that aggravated everything and now my symptoms have become worse, but my teeth needed to come out they were embedded almost into my jaw bone, I was hoping that was the cause of my tinnitus but guess not

Also Jules, if I may ask how long did it take you to have surgery after you started developing vascular symptoms? My symptoms seem to be getting worse, today I had a really bad dizziness/ pressure episode and when I spoke to Dr. Kamran he said they are just symptoms and he never has heard of ijv compression being fatal, but today was very scary to feel this way.

The symptoms of IJV compression are HORRIBLE & has made a number of our members feel like they were dying, however, it’s ICA compression than can be fatal because it has the potential to cause a stroke.

I’m sorry your symptoms are worsening, @Jimmymich90. If you know there are certain activities or head positions that make your symptoms worse, try to avoid those, as that can help. Also, you can try icing your neck (20 min on/2 hrs off) or applying heat to it periodically during the day which may help. You may need to try both options to see if one or the other is more helpful.

You can ask your PCP for an Rx to a blood thinner such as Plavix, Brillinta or Xarelto. Doctors in the US who treat vES often prescribe a blood thinner to help reduce their patients’ symptoms while they await surgery. It can take a couple of weeks after starting on a blood thinner before it makes a difference.

So an update, Dr. Kamran got back to me today after viewing my CTA and he said he wasn’t 100% sure my problems were coming from eagles, and he wants me to do more investigation. I was very confused because my dizzy spells have been getting worse, and he said he wants to investigate for thoracic outlet syndrome or other diseases. He said he wasn’t able to do a call today but he will let me know what I can do in the mean time. Feeling very discouraged today because yesterday and today I have this intense dizziness episodes, but I have been dealing with shoulder issues for sometime so maybe its TOS I am not sure anymore.

I’m so sorry that he wants to do more testing- of course it makes sense that he doesn’t want you to have an unnecessary surgery but very frustrating for you when you’re feeling rougher each day… I think it was about a year between the vascular symptoms starting & my surgery- I’m in the UK, the wait times were long then, but even worse now :worried:
Praying that this doesn’t delay things for you too much :folded_hands:

So an update for the night, I will wait to see what Dr. Kamran says tomorrow about going to see him in person for more tests and what that in tails. I went to my ENT doctor here in Greece who totally dismissed and disagreed with eagles/ vein compression being the cause of my dizziness. He said it’s a ridiculous idea because my cta showed my arteries normal. He said he thinks the problem is rooted in a functional problem like a neural circuit dizziness and maybe a migraine type pattern since I have triggers that can set it off like lights. He told me that migraines can cause the dizziness even without the pain. He did a hearing test and checked my ears and eyes and everything was normal. He wants me to see a neurologist for an opinion. But to be honest it’s very stressful on me to be dealing with now all these opinions of what’s wrong with me, while I have to suffer with the symptoms, all the doctors are great but it’s becoming a lot to be chasing different rabbit holes and then having people argue against different ideas. I just don’t want to be wrong and I feel like today when Dr. Kamran said he wasn’t 100% sure about the ijv compression/eagles it was a huge blow because I thought it was figured out and could bring some clarity but now I feel like I’m back to square one.

I’m sorry your story has gotten more confusing instead of less. :sad_but_relieved_face:

That your ENT in Greece said you don’t have ES AND vein compression can’t be the cause of your dizziness is WRONG!! That is ridiculous!! Just because your CTA showed your arteries are normal means he didn’t bother to look at the conditions of your IJVs which can also be impacted by elongated styloids & cause dizziness. There are quite a number of doctors who know about ES but don’t believe the styloids can negatively impact the jugular veins but do believe they can cause problems w/ the carotids. It sounds like he is one of those doctors.

Dr. Kamran does TOS surgeries, & we’ve had at least one member for whom he did TOS surgery then also did vES surgery with good outcomes. If you have TOS, which is also caused by jugular vein compression but closer to your collar bones, it would be important to know that so you & Dr. Kamran can discuss which surgery should be first. I think it’s great he is being thorough especially if more than one surgery is necessary.

Let us know what Dr Kamran says about you going to see him; he is very respected and as @Isaiah_40_31 says, he knows about ES and TOS…
