Thank you.
Here’s a link to a post that @lingerpartyof9 did as her husband had surgery with Dr Osborne:

Not sure if he had VES…
Thank you.
Hey how long did it take for your symptoms to improve with your clavicle, trap, scap? Also did you have bad anxiery?
Hey I’m glad it worked out for you! How long did it take for your nerves to heal? I had intraoral done and it was shortened from 4.5 to 3cm with the ligament removed 3 weeks ago. My trigger points are gone. Now Ive got lots of nerve stuff going on with nerves coming back online in all those same areas. Still having a hand tremor too due to the shoulder weakness. Curious how long this is going to take to resolve or decide if enough was taken out. Left side also needs to be done as it’s 4cm.
@alibabac - I’m sorry to tell you this, but your styloid wasn’t even shortened to normal length which is 2.54 cm. Our members have gotten the best results from ES surgeries when their styloids have been removed close to the skull base. We’ve recently had some members who had intraoral surgeries where their styloids were cut close to the skull base, so we know it’s possible to be done that way. You may need a revision surgery for the styloid you had shortened 3 weeks ago, & you should see a different surgeon to do your next styloidectomy - someone who will cut the styloid significantly shorter.
Full nerve recovery takes a number of months i.e. anywhere from 1- 12 months depending on how severely the nerve was irritated or injured. Often by 6 months post op, there have been significant gains in symptoms reduction.
Thank you for your honesty. My doc does this no invasive algorithm first. Last year he did manual fractures. This next step was intraoral. If he agrees to do the external, which he had said before he can do, I will urge him to take as much out as possible. Hate to have to go through all of this all over again. Especially since my side needs attention too. Maybe I can convince him to go straight externalnon the left side too.
I’ve replied to your other post, about your surgery…if you do have the second side done I’d suggest definitely having exrernal surgery, and making sure more is removed…if your doctor isn’t confident that he can do this then it might be better to look for another doctor on the list if you’re able to travel. Here’s a link to the list:

@alibabac - As I’m sure you’ve gathered by now, taking the no invasive approach to dealing with ES is not effective, & as @Jules mentioned, can be dangerous. It’s best for a doctor to dive in & remove as much as possible of the styloid so multiple surgeries aren’t necessary to get good symptoms results. I’m sorry your doctor doesn’t know this. I wish there was a way we could educate him so he doesn’t put others through what you’re potentially going to need to deal with. Do you know how many ES surgeries your surgeon has done?
I also agree that we do have some members who had more minimal styloidectomies like you did who still had some positive results so it would be great if your surgery helped to some degree.
I do hope your surgery helps w/ your shoulder/arm symptoms so you can enjoy holding your baby!
Thank you. Yes I am holding onto hope that it will help things a lot more, even if not 100%. The wait and see is so hard mentally and physically. Doctor said he’s done 600 surgeries and said 85% of the fractures are successful.
I also have post partum anxiety on top of this which isn’t helping the situation. Having ES swing in again like it did at 5 weeks post partum was pretty traumatic. I had sleepless nights and could barely eat for weeks. That stress has amplified all things so I apologize if I ask the same questions twice in several places.
I’m truly surprised your doctor has broken styloids for 600 people & has had such a high success rate.
No worries about asking questions more than once. That makes sure you get an answers & hopefully from more than just @Jules & me. I’ll pray for your anxiety to settle down. I had pretty bad “post partum blues” for a month or more after having each of my children. It was no fun. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that along w/ ES. ![]()
Sending you hugs, it’s a very tough time for you ![]()
@alibabac Postpartum anxiety is SO hard and Eagles on top! My significant issues with Eagles started PP too. If you ever need someone to listen feel free to message me! ![]()
@lsheep thank you I will!!
