Hi @Bowser, that’s great news that it was a secondary condition and not the eagle causing the stomach trouble.
Will you have a gastroscopy in a few months to check for the bacteria? I ask as a family member had h.pylori bacteria which was treated with antibiotics but unfortunately lingered unknowingly and caused stomach cancer. I feel like it/ms important to get a visual on the bacteria along with the typical breath screening for it. Also all family members should get tested for the bacteria as a precaution. It’s a very nasty one!!!
That’s scary, @BraveKat, but good information. I’m sorry your family member ended up w/ cancer from H. pylori. I didn’t know that was possible! Was the cancer caught early enough to treat it & put it into remission?
Yes it is scary. I had never heard of the bacteria before this event so of the cases I’ve heard of, it has turned into that. It could be that it is a rare manifestation but feel like others should know the risks of the bacteria. My family member had thought it was treated and wasn’t aware that such a thing could happen.
This all happened in the past year so while it’s been intensive (for my loved one), it still feels new and unnerving for me.
It’s been known for quite a while within the medical profession that it causes/ is linked to ulcers and potentially cancer, so it’s not good that people aren’t screened after having it to ensure it has been eradicated by the antibiotics…thinking of you & your family
