Follow Up Appointments and Referral to Jacksonville Mayo Clinic

I saw and relayed the locations of both doctors you mentioned. This was the response to my request for information on Dr. Fernandes in Jacksonville and the two others:

"I have been informed that we do not have the data to credential oral surgeons.

I see you are now requesting credentials on Dr. Misfud and Dr. Magnuson. I think because they are not oral surgeons or dentists will be will able to help. Remember to please allow a few days for the Expert Medical Opinion team to populate the report for you."

I just looked up Dr. Fernandez info on Google. He’s both a Doctor of Medical Dentistry & a Maxillofacial Surgeon. It seems My Medical Ally should have info on him based on the Maxfac aspect of his profession.

I know. I replied with his website and asked the nurse for her opinion of whether she was able to review the information, hoping she would go back to the research department with it. Trying to press everyone as much as I can.

I looked him up and asked my medical ally about him. Does he do the external surgery?

I dont know. He is only talking to me about intraoral, but he is of the same Head and Neck profession.

@Oman, Dr. Misfud’s credentials are pretty impressive so, at least on paper, he looks to be a competent surgeon. I know he stressed intraoral surgery & for some of the doctors on our list that is their preference but if pressed to do transcervical surgery some will concede to do it. I wouldn’t want to be a guinea pig for a surgeon’s first attempt at a transcervical surgery, but a doctor has to start somewhere to gain experience so I applaud those brave souls who are willing to help a doctor/surgeon get started on that path.

@Isaiah_40_31 may I ask what you find impressive about him from that page? All I can see is that hes only been a Dr since 2017/2018, and my blinders just go on when i read that lol…Lets not forget hes the one quoting 2-4 week full recovery

Sorry for the slow reply, @Oman. Dr. Misfud graduated from Tufts Med School in 2010 & went on to do his ENT specialty training starting 2011 finishing in 2015. He did a fellowship in head & neck surgery in 2017 at Toronto University which means his skills as a head & neck surgeon were further honed at that time. He’s an assistant professor at USF Health’s Dept. of Otolaryngology. It sounds to me like he’s put in a lot of years developing his skills as an ENT skull based surgeon. Now, I grant you that doesn’t automatically mean he’s good at what he does.

I hope you’re appt. w/ Dr. Magnusson today went well.
