Moderate to advanced discogenic spondylosis c5-c6, mild C3-c4 and c6-c7
Bilateral stylohyoid ossification
Hypolordosis of cervical spine, 1%
Clivoaxial angle 138degr
Advance facet arthrosis left c53-c4
Stenosis left c6-c7, bony ankylosis left c2-c3. etc.
Symptoms: mostly morning headaches, pain in eye socket, waking up with feeling of lump in throat, neck gets stuck when looking down left side painful to straighten it up, yawning sometimes hurts, singing in full voice not comfortable. Dizzy sometimes.
My pcm blew me off and is sending me to a neurosurgeon. I’ll go and explain and show the disc I got. Hopefully they will be open minded and refer me to the correct specialist. Also got referred to pain management. Open to it but really don’t want to mask the symptoms. The headaches worry me as sleep is so important to our overall health.
@silletje - You can try uploading your CBCT image again. I upgraded your account after you posted. It should work for uploading images now.
I’m sorry you’ve got so much going on w/ your neck. Headaches are a concern as they often go along with vascular compression being caused by elongated styloids. You’ll need to get a CT with contrast to be able to see the vascular tissues in your neck. You want the imaging to be done from skull base to at least your hyoid bone & to the collar bone is even better.
It’s rough when our PCPs won’t listen to us. I’m glad you have a cervical chiropractor who “has a clue”. I think he’s sent you in the right direction to get help by suggesting you might have ES.
Hi & welcome to the forum! I hope that you’re able to try posting the imaging again…
If you haven’t already maybe try sleeping propped up, as waking with a headache if you’re laying fairly flat can be due to IJV compression, which can cause a pressure build up in your head .
I would also consider not doing the archery for the time being, as this could cause strain on the neck muscles which probably isn’t helping…I thought this had been mentioned in a discussion recently but can’t find it…
Thanks for the tip Jules. Learning a lot on this forum. Need all the info for when I go to the neurosurgeon next week. I haven’t shot a bow for fun in years because of my neck.
My chiropractor evaluated my pillow so it’s the correct height. Will raise my mattress and give that a shot. Here is the image of my left side. Already received great feedback from someone ()
@silletje - Do you have a picture of your head/neck from the back & front sides? Being able to see those would also be very helpful.
Also, I just re-looked at your left side picture & think I was mistaken. There is space between your styloid & the TP of C1 on that side. It’s hard to see the TP clearly. With your symptoms, I still believe you have IJV compression, but it may not be as severe as I initial thought. However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t causing debilitating symptoms.
