New Member Introduction - and some questions about surgeons in the UK

@McWelly - I am so, so sorry for your current pain & problems w/ your parotid gland. There is proof positive your styloid(s) need to come out. I don’t know how referrals work in the UK, but could your oral surgeon send an email to Mr. Hughes explaining what he’s noted? If so, would that help to get you back in to see him for a re-evaluation or are you done with him because he was so abrupt with your appointment? I recall it was quite expensive for you as well.

I hope the antibiotic helps relieve your pain quickly. I don’t know what types of analgesics you can take but ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory so might work better than acetaminophen. Using heat on your parotid will also help stimulate blood flow which can knock out the infection faster.

Please let us know how you’re doing tomorrow. I will say a prayer for quick recovery so you can get back to deciding how to proceed with your styloids.

:hugs:

Thank you @Isaiah_40_31 . Antibiotics certainly worked for now and I have another course if needed. I’m not able to take NSAIDS unfortunately but I have topical ibuprofen gel, CBD balm, arnica cream and as you recommended- heat pads. In fact I gave a small heat pad I warm in the microwave and when I go out, wear it under my hat for my occipital pain, it really helps!

Happy Christmas one and all, will update. PS I’m not inclined to return to JH, dismissive and hugely expensive and radiologist never even replied to my emails. Luckily I have my scans and NHS consultant can get them looked at again hopefully.:pray::crossed_fingers:
