I was low in Vitamin D and vitamin B12 and have been told to take supplements. I’ve only started taking them since September and I’ve had symptoms for the last 2 years. Neither my vit D or B12 were very low, just “on the low side”. I seem to get a lot of muscle spasms so I have wondered if my magnesium levels are low too, they didn’t mention magnesium and I don’t know if they tested for it but I’m going for follow up tests next week so I’ll ask. The reason I mentioned the vitamins is because I was reading about calcification tendonitis of the shoulder and apparently the body reabsorbs the calcium over time and it can be sped up by taking magnesium, so wondered why this isn’t the case in Eagle syndrome?

I think in cases of calcific tendinitis the calcification doesn’t tend to be as thick as the styloids are & thus can be more easily broken down. I had supraspinatus tendinitis treated w/ barbotage therapy this year i.e. saline is injected into the deltoid area w/ ultrasound guidance to break up the calcification then as much fluid as possible is withdraw w/ the calcium particles to remove the calcium. What’s left in the muscle is supposedly reabsorbed by the body over time.
