Shoulder/Arm pain!

Yeah, it feels like my uvula won’t do it’s job and send stuff in the proper direction by closing off the sinus cavity. It either goes up or says put. Won’t go down w out a heroic effort!

These nerves all play a role in swallowing:

The following cranial nerves are involved in swallowing:

  • Trigeminal ( cranial nerve V )
  • Facial ( cranial nerve VII )
  • Glossopharyngeal ( cranial nerve IX )
  • Vagus ( cranial nerve X )
  • Hypoglossal nerve ( cranial nerve XII )

Since all of them stand to be affected by ES & possibly irritated during surgery, it’s possible your throat is experiencing a sort of temporary post op paralysis. I do expect that will subside as you heal. I can’t say how long it will take for whichever nerves are affected to “wake up” but they will. I’m really sorry you’re struggling like you are. It’s frustrating to get rid of some symptoms & gain new ones during recovery but usually the new ones go away after a little time.

I Googled nerves that affect swallowing to get the above list & found this article you might find interesting:

If the problem persists, there are PT specialists who work w/ people who have swallowing issues. I looked into that myself after my first surgery since my tongue paralysis made eating & swallowing difficult. My PCP wasn’t supportive & wouldn’t give me the referral I needed. Thankfully, over time, the problem took care of itself.

I’m glad relief finally came. I took a few drops of a hemp, tumeric based anti inflammatory today and it really helped! Still not great but better. I did not have t take any ibuprofen or tylenol today. YAY! Also I use lavender oil around wound, not on it and Christo[hers bone and tissue formula and it’s def promoting healing for me.
