That's how I reacted when I first read about it, too, Mayela. It sounded almost silly, but at the same time it sort of made sense. It turned out to be a lifesaver for me, so I continue to mention it on the forum. If you do try it, I'd suggest generic "Monster" popsicles. They taste the best and are huge so it requires less unwrapping to devour them at a crazy pace. They're at the bottom in the freezer at Walmart and Safeway where I live.
I really hope it helps you. I may just have lost my sanity while I awaited surgery if not for popsicles. I literally could not go to sleep (with any amount of medicine/sleeping pills) without them.

Popsicles?!?!?!?! That is amazing!!! I will try ASAP.. Thank you!!
Awesome, Mayela my Maryland neighbor, I'm soooo happy for you!!! He is definitely the one I will seek out when I'm ready. So happy to hear you were treated so well, that really means a lot!!!! I will be thinking & praying for you. Please keep us posted on your experience. Hugs!!
Mayela, you are the second fellow eagles that I apparently passed in the halls at dr Cognettis office! I had my pre op appt with him on October 17th and had surgery the 18th. He did my first surgery last march. Just FYI- I traveled from alaska to see him in march. (I am now in South Dakota taking care of my mom, but I traveled from SD last week.) he is amazing and I’m sure you will be very happy with the outcome.
I feel he has saved my life! I look forward to hearing updates from you.
So YOU are the lady from Alaska, uh??? So, I must tell you that the first thing they told me as soon as I sat down in the examination room was that you were there on same week!! This speaks volumes of his personable approach to healing. I am convinced: I'm in the right place!!

Hello, my friends!! I got my left styloid removed on Friday. This has been one of the best decisions of my life! I feel terrific and very hopeful. Dr. Cognetti was as fabulous as usual. And the hospital?? They treated me like a queen! I mean, they even numbed the area before they inserted the IV needle, among other million things!! And the little hotel where I stayed, called Morris House, was so fantastic we will be going back just because. Everything about the experience has been fantastic. I will write more details later.
a heartfelt THANKYOU for compiling this list of experienced Drs that are familiar with ES!! You have saved me many hours in the sleepless nights searching. THIS SITE IS A GOD-send...I live in Kansas but will travel as far as it takes to find the right solution...2 decades and counting on suffering thru- so glad to have finally found a name and a diagnosis!
I found a You Tube interview with Dr. Cognetti...I was impressed!!
How far are you from Philadelphia, one of the most experienced surgeons for ES is in Philadelphia at Thomas Jefferson Hospital. Dr, Cognetti, See the attached spreadsheet of doctors around the world that have done surgeries on our members since the beginning of this forum. You may find another but check out the discussions. You will find that there are very few that are any good and fewer that more than one member has used.
Attached file is in EXCEL, I l hope you can open it, if not check out Dr. Cognetti for sure. Good luck. Sorry for all your surgeries. A lot of us are having similar issues. You are on the right forum.
Hello Im new to the website and really dont know how to navigate in here however I see you are talking about Dr. Cognetti. I have sent my files to Dr. Congetti and Dr. Samji. I live in the midwest and will have to travel just as far either why, can you farther input on the Drs.for me. im so lost and confused and scared at this point
I had bilateral Eagle Syndrome and just had both of my styloids removed by Dr. Bradley Simmons in Canandaigua, New York just two weeks ago. I'm in Michigan and found him on the web. He was terrific. He is very knowledgeable and did a great job. After one week most of my symptoms were gone! Today is exactly two weeks since surgery. My neck is looking good - he does the external surgery instead working blindly inside. Let me know if you need any more info about him. He managed to get them off of my carotid arteries without a problem.
Did you have pounding headaches in the back of your head? I feel I cant get in anywhere fast enough Im scared to sleep at night. The ear and jaw pain hurts put it doesnt scare me like the headaches. When were you diagnosed?

Yes, I did have pounding headaches and sometimes felt like it was just a big spasm that wouldn't let go. I also had esophageal spasm that felt like a heart attack and sent me to the hospital three times. I'm not sure where you are but instead of waiting to get into a doctor, I would call and verify that they do surgery for Eagle's Syndrome. I had called and asked once place if the "dealt with Eagle Syndrome". They said yes but then proceeded to try and set me up with multiple doctors to treat the symptoms only. They don't do the surgery. I also, wouldn't want to be any doctor's guinea pig. Make sure they have experience. It is worth traveling for. I talked to someone who had botched surgeries by inexperienced doctors.

Thanks for sharing the video. I never met him, but I have heard so much good about him, that I would be willing to go to Phladelphia if I need a redo or a surgery on the other side.
I have been a little bit under the weather because I got the flu after my first surgery...not fun at all.
Well, I had my second surgery last week, on the 13th. I definitely have pains and discomfort, but that is completely normal after a procedure like this. The good news is that the side of the first surgery, where my pain was a killer, feels absolutely fantastic! I don't even feel discomforts related to the surgery...not-a-thing!
I cannot stress this enough...there is no reason at all to go on living in so much pain, just because you are afraid of surgery. In fact, the pain I felt that first week is not different to a good ol' summer day living with Eagles...you know, those hot days when you feel that your neck is about to explode, so much that you don't dare to go out and smell your roses. It passes very quickly. After a week or so, you feel well enough to do pretty much anything (you are not supposed to, however.) I don' t know what is on the cards for me in the future, but I feel fabulous!
Feeel free to ask me about lodging and everything you want.
