Thank you, my phone appointment with my family doctor is on Nov. 21st hopefully he can refer me to our Manitoba’s surgeon and he or she could do the external for me. I do not care about the scars. Please pray for my app so I could get an encouragement and not declined.
I’ll put your appt. date on my calendar & will be praying for you, @Luba.
@Luba , praying you’ll be able to get help
What an amazing story!! I’m so glad you’re better!!
Dr David Cognetti, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia 215- 955- 6760 (Has done many successful surgeries on members). Only removes ligaments if calcified. David M Cognetti MD | Jefferson Health
Hi, do you know the price for the surgery from this doctor? Thank you.
@Luba
He’s $8000 USD per side. It’s another ~12,000k if you need a vein decompression. I’ve heard to budget $20-25k per side. Someone from this site is Canadian and just had surgery with him, but I can’t remember who that is.
Cognetti’s waitlist for a consultation is 5-6 months. Just an fyi. I phoned at the beginning of October and was offered a consult in April.
Thank you, Val. The price is not too bad but waiting time is long. I will call tomorrow. Did you pay for the consult?
No, I didn’t pursue it. The consultation wait was 5 months, plus the wait time for surgery (which I believe is another 5-6 month). My husband needs the bilateral procedure with vascular decompression so it would still be $50k USD ($70,000 CAD) plus travel and other expenses.
Also, most US surgeons won’t do both sides at the same time, you have to travel twice. My understanding is Hepworth is the only who one routinely does both sides at the same time. JC wants his done at the same time to avoid a second surgery date.
Cognetti has a good reputation so good luck if you decide to pursue him!
I don’t think Dr Hepworth does do both sides at the same time, we know Dr Hackman in NC does, but he wouldn’t have been the best surgeon for your husband because of his vascular ES…Dr Hackman is very experienced at styloid removal but doesn’t work with vascular surgeons. A few Canadian members have seen him, @vdm did, can’t remember others…
Mea culpa! I got the two confused.
I recommend putting your CT scan that you said showed nothing through the Radiant Viewer. You might get a better understanding of the issue and see something you didn’t recognize.
Appears to this-non doctor that you have a problem
Thank you. I am sitting in the ER waiting for a new CT scan. Hopefully they will give it to me and I have an USB stick with me.
I am sorry English is not my first language what does “this-non doctor” mean?
It means not a Doctor so I don’t know anything
Ask the technician for a copy of the the entire scan. This is how I always get my images. You might have to wait. They put them on a CD.
Of course, Canada might be different.
You might tell Doctor you would like a scan of head and neck if they will order it.
Just remember you are getting exposed every time to radiation. Drink a lot of water to try to flush contrast out of your body
I hope you were able to get the CT scan today @Luba, and an appointment w/ Dr. Cognetti.
Your styloid process is very long & pointed & somewhat thick. No wonder you’re feeling so bad! Because of the type of scan you had, I can’t tell if you have vascular compression or not. I hope if you got a CT today it shows everything much more clearly.
No, I did not. I had waited for 2 hours in the waiting room but it continued to be filled with more emergencies. I will try early morning on Thursday.
It is not a CT picture it was X Ray from the dental. I will request my CT that I had done in June.
My parents are inquiring now some doctors in Kazakhstan so I did not contact Dr. Cognetti. Especially with the waiting time.
I would ask Val about the doctor from Turkey please, the website or email.
So what you want to ask for is a head and neck Ct scan with contrast. You could take your image that shows the huge styloid in with you. Most definitely you want to say you need to be checked for Eagle Syndrome AND you want to be evaluated for any vascular issues. You want your styloids measured.
Tell the technician you want a copy of all images.
You could ask if they have a radiologist who is an expert on Eagle Syndrome. My hospital does. Yours may not.
Good luck on achieving the things you really need.
If all you are doing is trying to get a copy of one that is already done disregard all of the above. I am not sure what you are trying to do. You can ask for a copy of all the imaging procedures. Typically ER is not where you go to get a copy. Canada may be different.
If you are having a hard time understanding these posts because English is not your first language maybe someone can translate for you. This is a difficult topic to understand for anyone.
No, no, I understand everything except some medical terms but I have got them now.
If you wait for a CT scan it can take up to 4 month, but if you go to the ER and tell them that your head and neck hurts it may help to get scanned in 4-5 hours depending on the amount of emergencies. My co-worker took his wife at 2 a.m. and she got Ct scan and MRI and blood work.
I checked and found that Dr. Cognetti is in Philadelphia. Which doctor is in Michigan?
Thank you so much for your support.
