So I noticed yesterday for the first time that I have a small bruise outside corner around eye by temple. It’s about the size of a pencil eraser and today I’m getting a “twin” on the other side? Interesting location…and wondering thoughts? You think it’s because of the surgery being skull based? I know they apparently put something over my eyes during the procedure but I just thought the location of these bruises was interesting? Thanks :relaxed:

I had bruising in the same place- I thought they’d lumped me about! I asked at my second surgery & was told it was from monitoring the nerves during surgery- there’s a vein in that area which is easy to catch, hence the bruises. The doctor called it ‘the vein of sod’!

That makes perfect sense. My surgeon monitored my facial nerves also during surgery so that’s it! Thank you so much!!

Just a little update. Been up since 330 this morning very uncomfortable. Finally was able to get a message through to Dr and he called me in a dosage pack. Started that Immediately today. So hoping that helps. Just a ton of tightness in my neck. Still have the right side paralysis and feels even tighter today. Been elevated icing and alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen. I think I did a bit too much yesterday. So am laying low today. It definitely is a roller coaster as others have said. If the inflammation and swelling would go down I think things would be better. Absolutely do not regret the surgery.

Yup! You nailed it on the head. Resuming activities must be done by micro baby steps. “Test the water” before jumping in w/ both feet. Early after surgery, something as simple as putting dishes in the dishwasher or a load of clothes into the washer can be enough for one day, or in some cases, too much. You did the right thing today by taking a rest day. You may also find you can do more if you’re active for a bit then rest for awhile then active again w/ a rest later. Doing what your body asks (i.e. rest when you’re sore or tired instead of pushing your self to remain active) is the best medicine.

So sorry you’ve had a rough day- I think most of us have learnt the hard way about overdoing things a bit- hopefully you’ll be on the mend & healing will continue upwards soon. Take care, hugs & prayers  :hugs:

So for those of you who wondered (like me) what was attached to my left styloid in the photo above. I just had my follow up appointment with Dr H this week. He advised that that was muscle tissue. He releases it from both sides however it just depends on how it comes out. Mine on the left just happened to come out attached to the styloid. He said that he is fairly confident that my right sided partial mouth paralysis will heal up but will just take time and patience. Eye twitching same thing said most likely due to healing and will take time. The numbess he said will hopefully continue to fade however may end up with some residual left over. Seems to be fairly common with this surgery. All in all a good post op appointment. He will be continuing to follow me and see how I am doing will have an appointment in December. I think it’s wonderful that he doesn’t just drop his patients like a sack of potatoes (excuse the analogy) and actually cares to see them through. He said will see how things are progressing what symptoms remain (if any, hopefully not!) and will go from there on referring me further if need be.
