# Surgery next week with costantino

I’m glad that you & your husband were able to get several opinions, and have a date for surgery with Dr Costantino. It’s understandable that you’re nervous, and there are some people who don’t improve as much as they hoped; sometimes this is because they haven’t waiting long enough for the brain to adjust to the vascular flow as @Isaiah_40_31 says, sometimes it’s because they might need bilateral surgery, and for a few people it might be just one vascular compression dealt with and they have others or other conditions which are complicating the situation.

I think we see more members on here who have perhaps needed bilateral surgery before getting the results compared to his experience, but as @Isaiah_40_31 says, often people are hoping (understandably) to have an instant cure, but it can take months…  
There are risks to the surgery obviously, but by seeing such an experienced surgeon those risks are lessened. If your husband has very elongated styloids, then the most logical step towards a cure is to have them removed, and you’ve done your homework to make sure you have given him the best chance of a cure…  
Hopefully others who’ve seen Dr Costantino will chip in; I had bilateral IJV compression and had surgery in the UK and I got my life back, but obviously my experience is different as I didn’t have C1 compression too.
