19 year old from Croatia

I read the post from the 19 year old from Croatia and I feel so bad for him. The amount of symptoms are mind boggling. I was reading the members replies and it is amazing how much information we get. Even a suicide hotline number? Every time I open this forum I learn more and more. So lucky to have this. I just hope he gets a doctor to help him. One of the members wrote how he kept his symptoms to himself and all I thought of was how I did the same thing. Didn’t want people to think I was crazy. Thanks for all you do.

About weird symptoms. In the May 24 webinar Dr Higgins mentioned how commonly patients don’t want to say all their symptoms because people will think them crazy.

(I don’t know know which is the post you’re referring to. What’s the title?)

One of our previous moderators, @heidiemt gave that advice as she felt that doctors didn’t take her seriously when she mentioned the weirder symptoms, that they were more dismissive if they weren’t ‘well known’ ES symptoms & could lead to a doctor not giving the diagnosis.
@Tommyh glad that you find the site helpful, hope you’re doing okay.

@Violin - Here’s the thread @Tommyh is referring to:

Im 6 weeks post op today and I’ve been back to work full time for three weeks and im still feeling so much better. You sure were right about the symptoms hanging around for a while. Every once in a while I will get the ear pain and the jaw ache but it is nothing I can’t deal with in comparison. The scar from the left styloid removal is almost unoticable and I still don’t get any pain at all from the surgery. I will admit though that I just finished two straight days at work for 14 hours each and im a bit tired. Don’t know if I mentioned this but I work at a plastic making facility as a maintenance tech keeping all the machines running. I don’t make any of the plastic but the machines keep me busy. We make plastic for surgical trays and Boeing air planes. It was neat for me to think that maybe the tray they used in OR was the plastic from the plant I work in. Anyways I wanted to give an update and as of now im still not doing the other side till it gives me trouble. Thanks again. This site is awesome!

@Tommyh - Thank you so much for the update! I’m impressed you’re doing so well at just 6 weeks post op. Some of our members have taken 6 weeks off of work for recovery. I’m not surprised you’re a bit tired after back to back 14 hr work days! I would be even w/o just having had ES surgery! You’re one tough guy!! I’d say the fact that you stay active & fit has helped a lot with how fast you’re recovering.

I hope the surgical trays used for your surgery came from the factory where you work. I think doing machine maintenance would be much more interesting than watching plastic surgical trays or airplane parts being made all day!

It’s a smart move to wait on surgery for the second styloid until it’s impacting your life negatively. No reason to go through the surgery & recovery if you don’t need it!

Great that you’re doing so well! I agree with @Isaiah_40_31 that the long days will be tiring!
