24 hrs post op with Dr Hackman

LOVE your pictures tp12! That is AMAZING progress!! I’m so glad you’re noticing good improvement & documenting it w/ pictures is ideal. I bet your eye will close completely very soon. Your smile looks fantastic!!

The pain you experienced yesterday may continue off & on for awhile. Your nerves are “waking up” as they heal. It’s not a pleasant process but will gradually stop as the nerves become happier & more settled. I had great days followed by painful, down days, followed by good days then more less good. It seems to be part of the cycle of healing from ES.

Please continue to keep us updated. It’s so great to read your posts. :hugs:

Definitely going the right way! Thanks for the update, keep healing!

YOU take great pix! You can see a huge improvement since first pictures. I bet you will see steady progression and relief at about 6-8 weeks. I found at 12 weeks, it was smooth sailing from there…on the humerous side, you could always get a little botox to even it out…

to anyone in the future following this progress here is my eight week check up:

my eye began to completely close within the last week. the eye lid itself and the function of closing is still slow. slow enough anyone looking at my face can see the hesitancy of the eye lid to close, so it does still require drops randomly, but overall vision is restored to what it was pre surgery and it does not irritate me all day. I have finally within the last week been able to tolerate things like wearing a mask with my glasses without significant irritation, which tells me my eye lid is faster at closing, but just not normal.

I still feel like I have an ear bud in my ear at all times and it’s constantly itching in and around my ear, Dr Hackman says this means there is still numbness with the nerves inside the ear. last weekend the whole right side of my head hurt like the day after surgery for two days then went back down. as the fullness and itching doesn’t actually impede my life, I just kind of shrug over it.

my smile has really been mostly normal for about a month now. my pucker evened out and didn’t pull to the non surgery side around week six post surgery.

I haven’t had the cranial pressure at all since surgery. I had a real problem with my left eye blurring with the pressure pre surgery and have had no left eye blurring post surgery.

the post surgery jaw issues worked themselves slowly between week six and seven.

it truly does take a lot of patience post surgery with yourself!

So glad that you’re still seeing improvements- thank you for giving us another update, I’m sure it gives others hope after their surgery if recovery is slow!
Best wishes, hope the ear settles soon & you don’t get any more painful days!

tp12,

Great update. I love your detail & the fact you kept track of which weeks you noticed specific improvements. Wish I’d done the same.

I’m really glad, too, that you’re continuing to see things recover & for the improvement you’ve already seen. You’re going a great job of being patient & that will pay off as you continue to notice symptoms improve going forward. I definitely had good days & less good days up to 4 mos. after surgery though I do hope, as Jules does, that you have no more really painful days ahead.

I look forward to your next update should you feel like posting one.
