I can’t believe it has been 7 weeks already. I have had significant improvement since my surgery with Dr. Nakaji. The left side was almost completely closed off so we decided to start there. My left-sided headaches are completely gone. I was also experiencing a constant pulsing in my neck and skull base as the blood was being shunted to vessels in those areas…that is also completely gone. I have less head pressure and my brain is coming back online. I can think more clearly and I’m not exhausted all of the time. There are a few things I hadn’t even realized had significantly changed with VES, I lost my appetite, I stopped laughing, I had no interest in doing anything and I lost my joy in living. I think all of those things had become the new normal so I didn’t even think of them as symptoms. But I’m happy to say that I am eating, laughing and enjoying life now.
I still have some issues to address, pressure behind my right eye, dizziness, right-sided pulsatile tinnitus and eustachian tube dysfunction. My right side is my dominant side and I feel hopeful that after the stage 2 surgery on October 14 all of that will improve. I believe that once my circulation is fully restored that my brain will heal and my cognitive functioning will improve even more.
