Morning eaglesnest
Now see, there are some good things!!! LOL Truly though, this 24/7 tinnitus is enough to make you bonkers…Isaiah_40_31 has the same issue. I finally got my last lower molar removed yesterday and for some reason it kicked my tinnitus up a few levels and that’s all I could hear! Thankfully my throat pain comes and goes…some days like a deep dull pain (maybe positional) and some days like I have a sore throat coming on. I know too well about the “so many other symptoms”. When I bothered to actually sit down and put them on paper, I was amazed! I can see why the doctors and my spouse thought I was crazy and/or a hopeless hypochondriac! There really is just no way a person could have all this going on and not be at death’s door! But yet here we are walking and talking like regular human beings…albeit I am quite an angry one at this point. Hard to be nice when you are sitting on go all the time! I have to really work at being congenial, but my current job has no stress and that is very helpful. Yet another thing ES has done for me…busted me down from management to the bottom of the organization chart! I have been unable to even rely on myself for a few years now - confidence right out the window!
The good news is that we have this site and each other - has truly made a difference for me!
Happy Friday - try to enjoy your weekend!
Happy Friday Isaiah_40_31
What in the world is up with that? First you have ES and manage to get it diagnosed and mostly remedied and then “lucky” enough to acquire Meniers’s??? Good grief…I’m thinking you should be buying some lottery tickets pretty often!
My ringing kicked in a few notches louder after I got that molar extracted yesterday. Tried to relax and take it easy but I had to turn on the tv to just get some peace and quiet LOL It did turn out the tooth was dying and really was the cause of my pain. At least confirmation that I haven’t totally lost it…was beginning to doubt myself that it really wasn’t the tooth. I have clenched like there is no tomorrow for most of my life with this ES and “I believe” have fractured all of my molars. Had a great dentist for several years that made me a good old fashioned mouth guard (hard acrylic)…was only $200 but I would have paid $2000 for the 10-12 years of relief I got from it (no more 24/7 headaches). I had to return almost monthly to get it adjusted for my crazy bite changes but would have gone every day if needed. Sadly that dentist was fond of crack and thus returned to regular use of it about 4 years ago! I have been on the dentist hop around ever since.
Happy Friday - hope you are able to enjoy your weekend!
Happy Friday, back to you kiZe6159!
I actually indirectly blame Meniere’s on ES. I had a bicycle accident 1 week before my second ES surgery was slated to occur & the resulting head injury further resulted in my getting Meniere’s (moral of the story - don’t fall off your bike…). To this day, I’m not sure if I blacked out because my styloid pressed on my carotid artery due to my head position as rode down a hill or if it was a bump in the road that threw me. My only memory is of starting down a hill, which I’d ridden down MANY times before, & then waking up as I was being loaded into an ambulance. My surgery was postponed almost 4 months (this distressed me far more than having a head injury) so my brain could heal (Dr. Samji is very wise that way). Surgery did seem to help my ear ringing for several years, but I’m doing battle w/ a persistent bout of Meniere’s symptoms/ear ringing currently. Soooo frustrating!
I’m glad that you had the tooth removed. All you needed to add to your current situation was an abscessed tooth! The increase in your tinnitus may decline your gum heals. It’s possible that your nerves were already so on edge, disturbing them in your gum w/ a tooth extraction ramped up your symptoms.
I’m sorry to hear about your dentist’s addiction. So sad for him & you! Glad that your night guard has brought you relief from your headaches though! I’ve used a night guard for my lower jaw/teeth for many years. I also wear a retainer on my upper teeth & totally understand your situation. Additionally I periodically see a cranial chiropractor who helps get my jaw ligaments & muscles to relax. Not a permanent fix but helpful for a few weeks after. Though I haven’t had to get my night guard/retainer adjusted (more in the beginning) very often, my teeth shift so much during the day that I have a hard time putting both appliances in at night. They do help keep my jaw aligned though which is helpful as I’m also a clencher. I have to consciously pay attention to not clenching during the day. That, of course, is a lost cause at night. You’re lucky you got your night guard for a “song”. Mine cost $800. Thankfully, I’ve only had to have it replaced once due to some dental work that changed my tooth alignment.
I’m hoping & praying for you that your appointment w/ Drs. Krempl & Baranano give you some good information & a direction to proceed. Please keep us posted as to what you learn!
