I’ve been there. Plan B is Netflix/Amazon Prime binging.
WOO HOOOOO!!! I’m counting down w/ you, Shane!! Praying for you to find a comfy sleeping position as soon as your surgeries are done (if not before)!!

Hope that all goes well, will be praying for you & God bless…
Thank you love you all, getting ready to leave for LA!
Best of luck @Shanef89! Praying for great success and relief of your pain with surgery. Please let us know how things go!
Makes you look at people in an airport differently now - people probably think you’re just going on a fun trip to see some buddies. Nothing so ordinary happening with you right now! This is life-changing!!! Update when you can!
Wow, I will be waiting for you to report on the other side Shane89. I need to get straight and quit whining. i will be praying for you.
Emma, you’ve had lots of surgeries & lots of complications, feel free to ‘whine’- not that I think you do ! Big hugs &
Pre op went well. He plans to resect the whole thing from hyoid to above where the ligament attaches on the styloid
Surgery is early tomorrow. Gotta get in at 7:30

Just picture yourself as a leaf flowing slowly down a river for the next couple of days. Lots of deep breaths and trust.
So glad your surgery is early, Shane. I’m an hour ahead of you right now so I can get a head start on praying in the morning.
Emma,
I second what Jules said! You’ve kept a very stiff upper lip through everything. I think you’re super awesome!! Thank you for all the people you’ve helped & encouraged over the years!!

About to go back and get hooked up
Bless all off you with this horrible disease it’s a long road and going to take years possibly to get though the hardship of eagles syndrome it’s not going to go away fast and or long it’s just is wat it it brutal and painful and I’m goin on a year on my first surgeries and I’m still in so much pain swollen cut is still closing and neck is constantly sore but in a different way prayer and physical therapy are in the mix and prayer don’t overdo it and eventually things will get better I guess aloha and stay focused aloha buzzeagles aloha
I’m out and finally back at my aunts… everything went well I’ll update more when up to to it. The doctor wants me to assess between today and tomorrow if it’s made a difference
Hi Shane,
You should notice some differences immediately post op just from having your calcified ligament untethered from your hyoid bone, however, the bigger changes won’t occur for some weeks or even months post op. I think Dr. Osborne is asking you to make a hasty decision that you can’t make accurately in such a short time. Hopefully you’ll notice enough of a positive change for him to continue on to the second surgery. You’ve done your time! Let’s get 'er done all the way!!
If you feel up to it in the next day, please write a post (or dictate one to your wife or aunt) to let us know if you feel any different than pre-op (besides the usual post-op pain med grogginess & pain from surgery).
I’m still praying for this surgery to have made a difference already.

Take it easy & hope you’re feeling some improvements… God bless
I wish I was warned at all that swallowing would hurt like hell in the surgery site. I definitely feel the lack of tension in my neck already. Impossible to sleep cuz every 30 seconds I need to swallow. But I definitely think it was a good success to go forward with the next one… not looking forward to this swallowing pain on both sides though… absolutely excruciating. When does that subside to be bare able?
So I still have the drainage tube in right now, which is causing most of my current pain. There has definitely been a subsiding of symptoms already, like the feeling of being choked and tightness is gone one the right. My right ear doesn’t hurt anymore, like it did before. But the tube is put in near my ear so I feel pain from that. I haven’t felt facial pain on the right side. I am scared of having this swallowing pain on both sides, but it helps knowing it’s not permanent. I’m very much looking forward to being able to lay flat again. This incline stuff is making my back hurt.
