Dr Hui is recommending removing the entire transverse process of c1 on my right side. I’ve had two decompressions on both sides one with Hackman and one with Hepworth. I’ve seen Dr Fargen too. I’m fused so I’m not worried about instability. Just looking for anyone else who has done this, not talking about a shave but the whole transverse process.

I think Dr. Tobias has removed the whole transverse process on some of Dr. Costantino’s patients who are on our forum. I don’t think any of them had cervical fusions, & no one that I can recall has come back to report his/her longer term outcome.
I assume Dr. Hepworth partially shaved the TP of C1 when he did your decompression surgery. If your IJV is still suffering compression by the transverse process of C1 it seems having the transverse process fully removed is your best chance at finally getting reduction or remission of your symptoms. The fact your cervical spine is partially fused should help to keep it stable if you choose to have that procedure.

I’m sorry that you’re potentially needing another surgery to resolve your symptoms… I can understand that if your C spine is fused that instability isn’t an issue, the only thing I wonder is about the vertebral artery as I thought it’s been mentioned on here that removing too much of the transverse process can risk bleeding? Here’s an image of the artery’s path:
Obviously Dr Hui is a very experienced surgeon, so he would know what he’s doing, but I would ask about that.
