Dental Pano images almost ten years apart, is it ES?

Sounds like you’re doing amazingly well @BLPICCOL71! Just continue to be careful not to overdo things as that can cause symptoms to flare up again, & they can take a while to calm back down once that happens.

Lovely long styloids, better out than in! Good you’ve needed less pain relief & you’re eating okay!

Today is the best I’ve felt yet! No pain meds today so far! Continuing to ice and take it easy. I used my CPAP the last two nights and my events per hour have been some of the lowest ever. Have a great weekend!

I forgot to ask when I got my stiches out Monday but wondering when I can shave my neck. Was going to attempt tonight.

I suspect you made your decision about shaving prior to my response here, but I was going to say it might be best to wait till the stitches are out, however, it probably doesn’t make a big difference either way. I hope your incision is healing up as well you are!!

I got my stiches out already last Monday. Shave was successful. I noticed most of my neck and below my jaw feel bruisy to the touch and almost like a numb like feeling when I touch those areas. Incision looks decent and will get better over time. I’ve noticed a lot of symptom relief but some still linger but I think it’ll take time and I’m just going to be patient. Definitely glad I got the procedure done.

We’re always happy to hear success stories like yours @BLPICCOL71! The numbness you’ve noted can go on for quite a number of months but generally resolves completely or mostly over time. I’m glad you’re happy you had the surgery & are willing to be patient & let your remaining symptoms resolve over time.

That’s great to hear! I still have a bit of numbness & strange sensations around my jaw & ear, but it’s better than pain! Keep taking care of yourself…

A little 6 week post surgery update.

Lower lip quivering and droop when smiling has pretty much normalized. The numb strange feeling in my neck area has definitely gotten better. Ear pain and fullness came and went but has been much better lately, might be one of those things that take time. My head movement range of motion is so much better and I don’t have huge cracks and feelings of my neck being stuck until it pops any more or if I do they are very subtle. I think this will only get better once the muscles, etc. know they have free range of motion now. I’ve been able to get out and learn golf with my youngest son, which was one of my main motivations with going forward with the surgery. I did go to the ER this past Sunday because my forearm was aching and the vein they did the IV in was very tough and stiff to the touch. Turns out I have a superficial thrombosis, nothing deep. They have me on Eliquis to be overly cautious. Anyhow, just thought I’d update. Some days it felt like the surgery didn’t do much but I just stayed patient and said this will take some time to feel all the way better. It has taken time and probably will take more but I definitely feel way better!

Thank you for your update, @BLPICCOL71. Much appreciated!! How much fun for you to be learning golf w/ your son! That’s a definite sign of improved head rotation post op.

You will continue to feel better & better as time passes. By +/- 6 months post op, hopefully your ES symptoms are history, but there may be a few that continue to pop in once & a while to remind you of where you’ve been. Usually by a year post op nerves are pretty well healed though sometimes healing continues even beyond a year. I know that all sounds like a long time from now, but it’s just to say time makes a BIG difference & to give you hope of more full recovery if you do have some symptoms that continue for a while.

I’m sorry you had the forearm/thrombosis incident but am glad it was nothing too serious.

That’s great to hear! I’m so pleased for you that you’re able to play golf & do that with your son
It does show that the surgery requires patience & hopefully this will be encouraging for other members… hope that your arm heals quickly too…
