Finally diagnosed with clicking larynx syndrome!

I’m glad that you feel the surgery was worth it, it does sound as if it’s been a tough recovery though! I hope that you keep improving, and hopefully the therapies you’re going to start will help things along.
Numbness around scars is quite common, I hope that the sensitivity settles…some members have used feathers etc to gently stimulate the nerves in numb areas, but if it’s really close to an over-sensitive area then it might be too much!
Thank you for the update :+1:

Hey! I would love to ask u questions about your symptoms before surgery. I had Eagles syndrome surgery but unfortunately am getting another ct bc I’m still in disfunction. I have clicking around hyoid that’s terrible in the morning when moving my head or speaking. Seems to get less as I use my muscles more so makes me wonder if it’s just muscular. I click a lot when I’m upset or talking unrelaxed almost with every word. A dull ache at the back of my hyoid bone, sometimes radiates into the ear, also burning back of throat. Bending my head down slightly to the left there a click there too. Click when swollowing in ears and sometimes seems harder to swollow.
Hoping it all gets better and I am just recovering from the surgery (I’m 4 months post op)
Is this similar to the symptoms u had before your surgery?

Hey! Thank you for all the info.
Does Dr Dewan offer virtual visits or does she require in person appointments? How much did it cost you for the visits and surgery?

Prior to surgery, beside the clicking sensations, did you ever felt a chocking sensation at the hyoid area?

Can I see a 3d picture of your hyoid? I kinda want to compare it with mine.

Thank you

@Alice - I can answer your first question - Dr. Dewan does not offer virtual visits thus your initial consult will need to be in person. @a_catindisguise will need to answer the others.

Hey! Do you guys happen to know any doctor that would be willing to do the hyoid bone cornu cortisone Injection (to assess conservatively prior surgery) who is close to West Canada.(West and upper US area?)

I’m in Alberta.

Thanks

In theory any doctor on the list should be able to do them, it’s a good idea to ask if they can be done under ultrasound to be more accurate. Off the top of my head I can’t recall who members have seen to get the injections done, it might be worth looking on the Doctors list to see who would be the easiest to get to for you & ringing their offices to see?
I know Canada’s health care is so slow, but is there no ENT locally who would consider it?
Here’s a discussion from one of our members who had surgery with Dr Neil Futran in Seattle and said how nice he was:

Hey @a_catindisguise I sent you a private message I believe and would love to connect talk because I just got diagnosed with this as well and am in the works of scheduling my surgery. I’m a bit nervous and would love to talk to someone who went through it already!

Hey guys sorry for my hiatus on here! I had to take a little break for my mental health. Feel free to private message me with any questions

@KCarey yes! Very similar symptoms. Surgery resolved about 80% of what was going on initially and as I’ve been healing for the past 6 months I would say I am about 90-95% symptom free!

@a_catindisguise - I totally understand. I did the same a few years ago before I became a moderator on here. It gets overwhelming after a while!

I’m so glad to hear your symptoms are nearly gone!! That’s FANTASTIC NEWS!!

Really glad to hear that your surgery helped so well, hope that the break helped too , please take care of yourself, sending you a hug :hugs:
