Flare up

Hi everyone. This is my scan from 6 years ago. My symptoms went away but are back now. I can feel the styloid behind my tonsil again. I have a new symptom of dizziness constant lightheaded i don’t know if its related. Im worried its vascular. Can anybody tell by my scan if they are compressing on anything. Is it usually if theyre pointed downwards it would be near the jugular or carodit arteries?? I have to go find someone to help me all over again.

I’m so sorry that you’re having symptoms again! And I’m sorry, I can’t remember if you had surgery, if you had both sides removed? It’s not possible to tell without a CT with contrast if there’s any vascular compression, yours are mighty long & look quite close to the C1 process which is often where jugular vein compression happens, between the C1 & the styloid, but you can’t tell the distance between them to be sure…
Feeling dizzy & light headed can be vascular symptoms, there’s more info in the Newbies Guide Section about symptoms, or you can use the search function to look up in the discussions…here’s a link:

It’s not easy to find a doctor is it? Prof Stassen is only practising privately now, there is another doctor we’ve heard of doing surgeries in Ireland, here’s a link to the up to date doctors list:

I hope that you can get an new CT scan & find out what’s going on now :hugs:

Thank you Jules
No i never got the surgery in the end as my symptoms got better. Has this happened to anyone? Anyway i just got an appointment today to go and see Prof leo stasson on 13th November (6weeks). My dizziness came on about 6 monthe before i start noticing the feeling of the styloid in my throat again, so really dont know if tge dizziness is to do with that. But yes mine are very big but even back then i never has dizziness. It is so scary to be dizzy all the time, my mri was normal so no other explanation for it except PPPD. So 6 weeks to see him i am going out of my mind! Then probably need a new scan and yes your right hes private so gonna cost me a fortune.

As I noted in response to your other post, @July123, you can also see Prof. Sultan in Galway. He does vascular ES surgeries & works both on public & private pay systems.

I’m glad that you’re able to see him, so frustrating that you have to pay though. Our UK & Canadian members are in similar situations…I hope that he can help you :hugs:
