Hi to all

Due to the symptoms I have.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

I have paid to see Mr axon this Friday in Cambridge privately. I hope he can take me as a NHS patient :folded_hands:

Good that you’re seeing Mr Axon, I hope the imaging and report is enough for him to agree to take you on… If you have pulsatile tinnitus (hearing your heartbeat in your ears, or whooshing sounds etc in time to your heart beat) please mention this to Mr Axon as he’s really interested in that & is more keen to accept patients with this symptom.
Let us know how you get on… :crossed_fingers:

I have an appointment with him now by zoom next Thursday as there wasn’t enough time for him to request my records. Another £500 :face_with_peeking_eye:

I have mentioned the fact that when I sleep on my left side I do hear my heart beat in my tinnitus which is true.

I’m sorry your appointment was moved ahead, @theFury, plus will cost an additional fee. So Mr. Axon charges extra for a zoom appointment?

Hi. Yes. The 20 min appointment was £275. Now the longer zoom appointment which he goes through my scans is £500. :face_with_peeking_eye:

The price is ridiculous.

Unbelievable isn’t it. But seriously, I can’t put a price on my health and well being. I need this sorting asap

I hope that it’s helpful, at least he does zoom appointments to save you travelling, some of our international members have had appointments this way. I hope he’ll help you, will be thinking of you on Thursday.

This is the response after nearly 3 months. Condescending tw*t. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: Absolute bullshit. If you look at opgs regularly then you should really see the massive styloids clearly on the opg! I am raging.

I am absolutely raging. Having flare after flare now. Getting worse weekly :face_with_symbols_on_mouth::nauseated_face:

Sorry for venting. :nauseated_face::face_with_symbols_on_mouth::folded_hands:

@theFury! VENT ON! VENT ON, my friend! We’re here for that. I completely agree with the reason you’re frustrated. Just an FYI - stress increases ES symptoms. Try to find a way to let go of Dr. Singh’s ignorance & pathetic response to your emails & move on.

As lame as this may sound, ES flares can sometimes be calmed just by doing relaxation breathing. There are many YouTube videos on that subject. Might be worth watching a few & trying out what they suggest. Other things that can help are getting outside (weather permitting) & taking a nice long, slow walk (or whatever your body is able to accommodate), enjoy the nature that surrounds you, focusing on that, & defocusing on your frustration. An indoor option is to take a warm 15 min. bath in epsom salt w/ some calming music playing in the background. Usually 1 cup of epsom salt is all you need for a tub full of water. :hugs:

So frustrating for you, I’m sorry that you’ve been dismissed!

Hi everyone

I seen Patrick Axon today and had the CT scan of my head and neck.

Firstly, I had an allergic reaction to the iodine, threw up, anphalactic shock, had adrenaline and calmed down. That was scary:face_with_peeking_eye::pensive_face:

After I had calmed down I went into see Mr Axon.

“Well Mr Wilding, you have the most impressive styloids I’ve ever seen, in fact the biggest I’ve ever came across, I can’t measure them, they are completely ossified”:face_with_peeking_eye:

Sat there in shock. He then told me that he believes the symptoms I’m experiencing are styloid related and not c1 transverse process however the jugular vein was being compressed by the styloids.

I will speak to his receptionist on Monday to arrange

I have the CT scan if anyone can have a look at it?

First, I am so sorry that you had a reaction to the contrast… terrifying and I am glad you are okay!

Your styloids are huge . I am so happy that you finally had a doctor recognize this but ugh it’s awful it took so long for a doctor to recognize and understand your symptoms.

I’m so excited for you, @theFury! Next step is surgery!! Get that appointment on Mr. Axon’s calendar ASAP! (It may still be a wait unless you go private). I’m also sorry for the scary experience you had from the iodine contrast but am glad all the right things were done to help you recover fairly quickly. It’s such great news that Mr. Axon offered surgery for you & that you impressed even him with the size/length of your styloids!

Wow, those are impressive! Sounds really scary the reaction you had to the contrast, that’s pretty unusual but at least you’re aware of that now… Good that the styloids have grown down to the hyoid but not actually attached, so I presume that Mr Axon could hopefully remove them with one incision as he normally does, you could ask about that?
It does look like it’s the styloids causing the compression from those images, so hopefully his plan to just remove them will help, it will be good to get them out! Your hyoid bone process looks quite long too, but hopefully that isn’t causing issues, I don’t think Mr Axon does hyoid trims.
Can you afford the surgery provately or will you have to wait for the NHS?

Hi. I’m in shock even more so that the dentist and orthodontist missed them. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

The right styloid at its end isn’t even connected :man_shrugging: it stops then starts again. God knows what this about :man_shrugging:

Mr Axons secretary is calling me on Monday to arrange the cost etc etc.

Yesterday was pretty scary to tell you truth. The scan was an ordeal in itself.:folded_hands:

We often see gaps or even ‘joints’ , it’s usually where the styloid process ends & then the stylo-hyoid ligament starts to calcify as well. Yes, crazy that these were missed, although @kiwi has just posted imaging with extremely long styloids too & those didn’t show on the x-rays, weirdly!
Great that you can have the surgery soon, let us know when you get a date!
