How long did you wait for the surgery?

Hello everyone,

I’m at the beginning of my journey. In a different post I described my symptoms and other healt issues. I think I have a blessing in disguise. On the one hand, I apparently have vascular ES, long styloid processes on both sides that push on the veins. But on the other hand, my pains are so far mild and I was lucky to skip the process of inaccurate diagnoses, pointless consultations and ineffective treatment. Somone suggested that my symptoms might be related to ES. I quickly did a CT at a private computer diagnostics laboratory and the results are clear. Unfortunately, the waiting periods for a surgery at my place are very long. Even up to a year (this without waiting for the consultation with a surgeon).

How was it in your case? How long did you wait?

Hi Arp,

Nice to meet you virtually

I see you are located in Poland. I live near Ottawa in Canada. My surgery is scheduled in New Jersey, USA for mid-December 2025. I have the Vascular Eagle Syndrome.

To answer your question, the wait time between the consultation with my Neurosurgeon and the surgery itself is two weeks. The wait time could have been shorter but I was unable to book everything in a timely fashion.

Take care!!

Audrey

I’m in the UK, when I had my surgery a few years ago, I’d been diagnosed at a small local hospital, then asked to be referred to a doctor on this list & I think that whole process of waiting for the appointment, getting a CT done, results & then surgery must’ve been at least 8 months- I had bilateral IJV compression. In the UK it’s even longer now, 15 months’ wait for surgery alone, without the waiting for an appointment etc!

Hi Arb,

My journey of waiting for the surgery took nearly 5 years. The reason it took so long is because of insurance problems and other health problems I also had at the time, which included serious sinus infections and subsequent sinus surgeries.

I read your other post about your symptoms. I want to tell you that I also have similar, Eagles Syndrome with vascular involvement but I also have swelling around my jaw that causes pain as well pain in the ears. After my Eagle’s surgery, this ear and jaw pain accompanied with jaw swelling was never resolved. There are some treatments that have helped me such as botox, but it’s only temporary.

@BlueRiver - I’m sorry you have unresolved symptoms after so many years, but I’m glad they aren’t substantially impacting your life, & you’ve found therapies that help make them more tolerable. Thank you for coming back & sharing the results of your surgery.
