thank you Isaiah
Hi there. How did the member feel of her hamulus was removed? I had it done on one side and not doing well since.
She hd both sides done along with both styloids. She felt much better afterward.
i dont know where you are but in manitoba dr viallet does it-my surgery is in 3 months
Thank you for that information, @rachael. I’m not sure which forum member you were addressing in your post. It’s been awhile since anyone posted on this thread. I’ll check to see if we’ve put Dr. Viallet on our Doctors List.
Because the training and education is very very low here. I have had no help. The case needs to be very straight forward in regards to ES, like elongated and very clearly curved into nerve. But it could be diameter, witch im sure is my issue. I really dont have a lot of time left. Dr.o’connel is good at what he does. But no a specialist when it comes to ES. When i talked about symptoms. Like what the nerve does in your body, he just shut off. Didnt want to hear it. If its not stopping you from swallowing food. Or legit stop you from talking. It couldnt be.
Who diagnosed you. Im looking to get diagnosed for ES
where are you? in manitoba? an ent did-dr.richard gall
I am in saskatchewan. But will travel if needed.
The ent was dr gall 204–943-0629 the surgeon is dr viallet at health sciences ctr Winnipeg
I’m very sorry to hear that about Dr. O’Connell. He has been very helpful for several of our members. @rachael has given you some good leads. I hope they work out for you, @Shane.
Thank you very much. I will look into this for sure.
I too in Toronto, ON Canada have been searching several months for an ES expert to firstly classify my ES (diagnosed by a dental surgeon) so I can decide what action to take for my multiple symptoms. I have about 90% of the symptoms on the various authoritative lists I have reviewed. I suspect vagal ES as the principal culprit. So please if there is an update on anyone with information on a Toronto-based specialist kindly post it here before I too head for the US to get this done early 2025!
I see you’re in SK. Have you checked out Dr. Murphy ENT in Saskatoon, SK? It’s my understanding he was assisted during a surgery by Dr. Sharma in an operation for a member in the Eagle Syndrome Canada Facebook group. I hope you were able to get help.
How much were you quoted to have surgery in the US? Are you just having the styloid removed, or do you also need decompression surgery? Single sided, or bilateral?
I am still waiting for my first appointment with Dr David Cognetti in PA for July 2025 but meantime have seen Dr Xerxes D Punthakee in Toronto who seems to at least know about ES. He is a surgeon at the Toronto Head & Neck Clinic. He has scheduled a new CTA (even though I have had several before where the technician missed the fact that I have an elongated right styloid process. It was discovered by parametric X-Ray by a Dental Surgeon Marco Magalhaes at Sunnibrook Hospital in Toronto. I will await my next appointment with Dr Punthakee before recommending him but in any event will still see Dr Cognetti if I experience further delay.
@ESnerves2025 - It’s always great news to learn of another doctor in CA who knows about ES. I’m glad Dr. Punthakee is interested in your ES diagnosis & is having you get an updated & more accurate scan to assess you. Did he indicate he’d be willing to do your ES surgery?
I’m sorry Dr. Cognetti is booked so far out. Did you ask to be put on his cancellation list? If not, contact his office & ask to be added to that as sometimes patients can get in sooner than their scheduled appointment that way.
Will be interested to hear how it goes with Dr Xerxes, & worth a try with the cancellation list for Dr Cognetti as @Isaiah_40_31 suggests, if you can.
Dr. Punthakee has ordered a CTA of neck only and I was wondering if that is correct and sufficient. Should it rather be a CTA of both head and neck to get the full picture. What would be the advantage of both? He does say it is for suspected Eagle Syndrome.
I am on Dr Cognetti’s cancellation list but no luck so far.
@ESnerves2025 - The CTA should be of the area between skull base & hyoid bone which is usually what a neck CTA encompasses so what Dr. P has ordered is correct & will help diagnose you if you do have ES &/or vascular compression of some sort.
