Hello yes he said it was too risky as the area would be full of scar tissue as my ijv had already been exposed when decompressed. I had sent him a video of my ijv intra op. He said he didn’t know of any surgeon that would be able to do a revision for me. He said it is different if someone has had a styloidectomy and the other area hasn’t been touched (virgin tissue). He said that the scar tissue is very tough and the vein is soft and very easily damaged as well as the cranial nerves in that area. I have been told Dr Constantino does scar revision surgery and have requested an appointment with him - it will be interesting to see what he has to say. I did really like Dr Aghayev and believed what he said. I would love to hear from anyone who has had bilateral surgery with him as I am seriously considering it - his assistant said most of his surgeries are bilateral.

@Gina1961 What Dr. Aghayev told you makes a lot of sense, and you’re right, Dr. Costantino is one of the surgeons who’s done revision IJV decompressions so it’s good you plan to have a consult with him, too. It may depend on the situation & how much scar tissue there is as to whether a revision surgery is advisable i.e. it may be a situation by situation decision vs one that some doctors will always be willing to take on.
