Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that I have got a call from my nurse who will do pre-op papers with me in 2 weeks and the rest my family doctor will do on Feb. 24th. So, I am glad I do not have to wait till March 18th as I was told by the receptionist. I will keep you updated. Thank you for your support and prayers
That’s brilliant, a few weeks quicker! I hope that all the paperwork & pre-op checks get done okay and will be praying for a successful surgery!
Squeaky wheel!
Good job following up, @Luba! As @Siren noted, your persistence has paid off. I’m so glad it’s all working out so well. I forgot to put your surgery date on my calendar. Please remind me when it is.
There is no date yet. But I will let you know for sure🙏
Luba - I am also from Toronto and have an appointment with Dr David M Cognetti in Philadelphia coming up soon. May I ask where you got the specialty CT scan for the ES surgery done in the end?
Hi, I had it done here at our local hospital. But first discovered through an X-ray at the dentist’s. I wish you all the best. Dr. Cognetti is very professional. I had talked to his office before I got my app here.
How was your appointment?
I had a CTA at North York General Hospital a few days ago after I explained to the technician what was needed. He had never heard of ES. I am awaiting the results. I had asked for this from a Head & Neck clinic doctor and will also see what he says hopefully next week. My appointment with Dr Cognetti in Philadelphia is set for ealy July 2025.
I wish you all the best! If I had proceeded with Dr. Cognetti back in November my surgery would have been done by now.
@Luba I’m so sorry you’re still waiting. I think you were given false hope by the doctor telling you your surgery date would be set ASAP. I guess ASAP has a different meaning in the CA health system than in the US. So frustrating for you!
All good, I trust God has His own timing and maybe the different plan than I expected.
That’s the best possible approach! I’m in the same boat w/ a surgery I’m hoping to get for my inner ear.
is it related to ES as well?
Indirectly. It’s related to a cycling accident I had between my ES surgeries. I truly don’t know what happened. I was riding down a hill & woke up in an ambulance. I think I may have passed out possibly from my left styloid squashing something vascular (ICA?). I had a head injury which resulted in hearing loss & terrible tinnitus. 4 years later I had a surgery on my inner ear to try to reduce the rate I was losing my hearing & the doctor took out too much bone which potentially resulted in the tinnitus I have now. Dr. Hepworth recently helped me unravel what the probable cause of my tinnitus is. I can have an artificial patch put in to replace the critical bone that was removed, but I have to find a surgeon willing to do it.
I admire your patience Luba
Thank you for sharing. I will pray you find the doctor.
I will continue to pray that you’ll have your ES surgery soon.
Hey Luba,
Have you phoned recently to check on your timing? I phoned to follow up on a referral the other day, JC’s triage went from “rapid access” to “chronic” which was a difference of 4 weeks to ~13 months. After the long weekend I’ll be making a series of phone calls, trying to find an acceptable middle ground. The Canadian system is beyond frustrating. But I find it helps to phone every couple weeks and check in. If I hadn’t, I never would have known that the referral triage had changed. Good luck with your journey and I’m so impressed with your patience. It’s been a long time.
@Val7426 - It seems nearly criminal that JC was given “rapid access” status then w/o a word changed to “chronic”. Disappointing for you but absolutely terrible business practice as far as the medical community goes. You/JC should have been informed before the change was ever made. Sigh…
