I only had problems on my left side…my right side measured 2.5cm and the right measured 6.6cm. I had really bad neck pain and ear pressure. I also would have what felt like throbbing from my carotid artery that was horrendous. I tried injections that seemed to make it worse.That is why I opted for surgery…surgeon told my husband that when he removed the styloid you could see everything relax from the pressure it was having paved on it by the styloid!I am 3 days post left styloidectomy, calcified ligament removal and left tonsillectomy. I haven’t had any pain medicine today and feel pretty good. Throat and ear is a little sore but mainly when I swallow or yawn. So I am extremely pleased so far! I used Dr Geoffrey Young at Mayo in Jacksonville, Fl and he was excellent
