Not es!

I also agree with heidemt (and I am so sorry for your excruciating and horrific experience). My son tried something called cranial sacral and it made him worse. We kept going for 4 weeks and each week was the same so we gave up. It was a good thing we did because when they push on that area, they are putting pressure on the nerves that are already inflamed and irritated. I STRONGLY ADVISE ALL ES PATIENTS AVOID MASSAGE IN THE NECK, JAW AREA AND AROUND THE EARS. Ann may be the exception...she did get relief but in retrospect I would take back that experience in a heartbeat and I hope I can prevent someone else from making the same mistake.

Ann-My son is doing well. He does have a minor post surgical complication. His developed a sialocele and it is infected. The scar has pus coming out of it and it is inflamed and swollen (2 weeks post op). He is on antibiotics now and we expect he will be fine. Other than that, he is pain free. His excruciating stabbing dagger ear pain and throat pain are gone. Thank God!

Thanks for sharing thoughts about the therapy/massage. I know much movement of my neck hurts, so I can’t see myself getting much done there by someone else. I really do find that the muscle relaxers are the best help for me. My dr. Just increased my dose this week and I am much more comfortable and slept better. Best wishes to all for an excellent weekend!

Hello this is Ann again

Myo kinestic's is an advanced massage treatment that is not typical massage. It is a specialized therapy which works with light tough and movement of muscles. It was invented by Dr. Mike and you can google it. I had tried medications, bit plates, countless dental proceedures and I have had had surgery on my left side. I had tried typical massage but it made me worse and some of my pain episodes came after typical massage. I also tried the upledger institute in Palm Beach Gardens and was treated by one of their experts and still my pain was worse. I realize not everyone lives in Florida and can visit the myomassage clinic or find a therapist who will be as patient and slow as my therapist was but I believe I have found some kind of understanding for my pain and for others. My therapist treated several people after me with facial pain and had wonderful results. I learned all muscles and nerves are connected and unwinding the tight muscles is the key to stop my pain. if muscle relaxants would work for me I would take them. The muscles they work on are not in the area of the neck where the stilliod process is. They work on the jaw, chin, neck but only touching it lightly and the shoulder and back. They work the muscles from the beginning to the spine in a specific pattern.

This therapy is different, not every trained therapist is as good as my myo kinestic therapist but I believe it is life changing. I hope people are open to learning that there are different types of therapy and not to dismiss this therapy because trigger point or cranial or any other kind of massage therapy makes people worse. I can never thank Dr. Mike enough for inventing this therapy and I research every option before I try a therapy. I hope the people who commented that massage did not work for them will go to you tube to see this specific therapy.

As for me I am only on here to share my journey and to help others. So I ask do your research before you dismiss a therapy that is life changing for 90% of the people who visited the clinic I went to.

Ann

Ann,

I am glad this worked for you. Like any therapy, there are different methods and different levels of skill. I am glad that you have shared this alternative way of dealing with Eagles pain, and glad that it works for you. I think that is what I am learning from this site about Eagles…each person has different symptoms depending on their anatomy and involvement of the nerves, muscles and ligaments that makes us all unique in our journey, and probably why it is so challenging for health care providers to recognize and diagnose us. Blessings to you on your journey!

This is so perfectly stated that I wanted to highlight it.

heidemt,

Thanks for highlighting this…this site has been SOOOOOO helpful to me. I am so glad to have stumbled across it. There is power in numbers, so the more we band together to get the medical and dental profession educated, the better. I think we are each unique in our individual lives and Eagles journey…it helps to share what works for each other, because that suggestion may work for someone else…keep On sharing!

Kay, I want to say you stated it perfectly wonderful myself.....I wish someone 8 years ago spoke to me about how muscles, ligaments and nerves were involved together....there are alternative gentle treatments that can work on de stressing our bodies, eating healthy and focusing on what we can control than living in the pain....my unwinding of my pain is a process.....I am greatful to have pain free days, it is like walking in the light.....and I hope others on this sight understand that we need to look at everything we do in our lives to find the solution.....good posture....not talking on cell phones or holding a phone with our shoulder and how we even strain our necks to use a computer.....we can find the solution to our pain but we must be open to new ideas and concepts....we must research and try and try again to be the best we can be....

Ann

Ann…I think I am trying to find the positive side to developing Eagles, and I believe the support from others such as yourself is my gift. I too try to take care of my whole body, so that is part of my frustration in that I feel My body is letting me down, and I don’t even know why it happened! We have to stay positive, enjoy each day and look for opportunities to improve our bodies, minds and spirits…I have especially learned that the mind and spirit “moods” have a lot of bearing on how well I handle the pain in the day. So, I will start my Sunday with my French mud mask on my face, coffee in hand, aromatherapy candles burning and gaze at my Christmas tree…perfect! Have a great day!

Thank you Ann for sharing that extra detail about the different king of massage. My apologies for trying to steer people away from anything that may be helpful. I would have tried that for my son if I had heard of it before now. We flew my son to Florida 4 times for various different types of treatment (including a specialist in Toyohari- a Japanese specialty of acupuncture and for FCR - functional cranial release) and if I thought for one second that there was a stone unturned, I would have been there in a heartbeat. Even with all we have learned, there is still so much I do not know... or have not experienced. Thanks for taking the time to post so thoughtfully.

Ear Mom

Thank you for your response. The Myo Massage clinic is in Jupiter, Florida and the only therapist there I would see is Stephanie. As Stephanie says she provides the information to the body so it can heal. I have since been to a more aggressive therapist in NYC that works on flow and the blockage of energy and learned more about what happens when one part of our bodies go haywire and how it effects the rest.

I have a 24 year old disabled daughter, I understand a Mother's thought process in finding a path to health. I worked extremely hard to give my daughter the best life she could have. You son is lucky to have a mom who will work for his well being as hard as you have.

As an advocate for special needs children it is the parents that tend not to get the support they need to keep their health in tact. I believe in some ways my illiness came from the stress of dealing with my daughters issues. Please take care of your self lovingly just as you take care of your son. Life unfolds with answers for us in time, sometimes we don't care for the answer but it sends us in a new direction.

Have the most wonderful holiday and enjoy standing in the light of health and wellness

Ann
