Yes, tonsillectomies as an adult are painful, & as Isaiah says having your styloid removed too will add to the pain. Intra-oral can be a more painful surgery to recover from, but hopefully you’ll have been prescribed good pain relief. If you search for recovery from intra oral surgery particularly it could help, here’s a few links to look at:
Hey @tacogy3 , I hope you’re recovering well from the surgery. Be strong. I’m rooting for you.
HI there!
It has been a while… I actually have decided to hold off on the second side surgery for now as the pain is almost non existent… I usually get symptoms in the summer with the heat so we shall see what this year brings…
I was diagnosed with another rare condition … an aberrant right subclavian artery that passes in front of the trachea… so may need surgery for that… which is where I have redirected focus.
Hope all is well on your end!
Hi all, I just wanted to post an update on my surgery recovery journey. I am now 3 weeks post-op intraoral styloidectomy and tonsillectomy. The first two weeks were immense ear & throat pain, fatigue, along with some nausea and vomiting. It has been a bit of a ride but I am recovering nicely, having some bad days along with the mostly good days.
I still have left side ear pain much less than I had with ES, still some pain and soreness in my throat and daily headaches. I still have the white …
Hope that you recover well, best wishes!
