It does sound like it could be the vagus nerve , there have been some good posts about it’s effects:

I didn’t know B12 helps w/ anemia. I’d think you’d need iron supplementation for that.
I also hadn’t heard about lidocaine/paracetamol causing trouble w/ hemoglobin. If you read that, then it’s possible, I suppose.
Hi @Isaiah_40_31 . This is what I read:
I have b12 deficiency for a number of years.
Awaiting the scan ,…….
It’s also called ‘pernicious’ anaemia, the B12 is needed for red blood cells too, but for some people the body doesn’t absorb it, it’s an autoimmune illness…

hello some weeks ago I went to my doctor with smelly gums (my doctor smeel my finger I had rub on them, told him I had put my finger in back of my throat and felt a round mass.He never believe me even if he said “yes not good odor” and said I was a psychiatric woman! The only treatment he wanted to give was cymbalta treatment . And on my scanner my styloids were nofified 40 mm
@Veroguilnec - That is just wrong! Have you asked for a referral to an ENT doctor or was that the type of doctor you saw who told you that you your symptoms are psychological?
Unfortunately, we only have one doctor on our Doctors List who’s in France & there’s a note that says she may no longer be doing ES surgeries. •Dr. Elisabeth Sauvaget - Hospital St. Joseph, Paris, https://www.hpsj.fr/specialites/oto-rhino-laryngologie-orl/lequipe/ (May no longer be doing ES surgeries). If you can find an ENT skull base surgeon, a maxillofacial surgeon, or a head & neck surgeon who does skull base surgery, all of those specialties deal with cancers of the neck & often have to remove the styloids during a cancer surgery. Perhaps one of those specialists would be able to help you.
As far as the bad taste & smell in your mouth go, it could be related to your styloids, but could also be due to something like tonsil stones or some other type of infection caused by a bacteria, fungus/yeast. It would have been proper for the doctor to have swabbed your mouth for a culture to try to find the source of the odor rather than telling you your problems are psychological.
