Hi again @alibabac! I had the whole styloid taken out as well as the C1 shave. In addition, there were a few other things removed in that area that Dr. Costantino routinely does. I did not have a lot of pain in the shoulder/back region at all but was unable to lift my arm for a while. I think that by November (about 5 months after surgery) my nerve had healed enough that I had pretty normal use of my arm. I never really did feel any tingling which I had expected to happen. I still do have neck soreness though and there is a spot on my neck under the incision site that still hurts when pressed. Thankfully, it doesnât generally hurt. One of the most annoying things that I had to get used to was the ear numbness. For some reason, that really bothered me. It didnât and doesnât hurt, but it just kind of feels weird. I still have it but I think that it is continuing to get better slowly. Unfortunately, I also still have First Bite syndrome, although that is much improved as well. I still have the elongated styloid/IJV compression on my right side and am hoping to avoid the surgery for that. I want to see how much improvement I get on the side that was already operated on before I commit to any more surgery. Hope this helps! Take care!
