Back again with a cta!

I don’t know how to get rid of the bed in the picture :sob: I developed some pretty severe insomnia last week. My family doctor is calling around to see if she can get me in to see anyone sooner

I’m sorry that you’re sleeping worse…have you tried any nerve pain medications? I take amitriptyline which helps with my nerve pain, it definitely helps me sleep as well which is great as before I was diagnosed & before surgery I got very little, it might be worth considering? :hugs:

Yes I started taking amitryptyline a few days ago. I’m also taking melatonin.

Hope it helps the nerve pain, a shame that it’s not helping with sleep as well as the melatonin. We have had a few discussions about difficulty sleeping, you could use the search function. I think magnesium might have been mentioned as helping with sleep…

I’ve just replied to you other post…I’m sure we had a discussion fairly recently as one of our members @KoolDude I think was having trouble but I can’t find it :woman_shrugging:

@rebelscum44 - Your styloids are very thick. The left side looks longer than the right & you have a small amount of s-h ligament calcification growing up off the lesser horn of the hyoid on the left side. There’s an even tinier amount on the right.

Though your IJVs show up clearly on your CTA if it was done w/ head in neutral, that could be why it’s hard to see IJV compression.

I’ve annotated your pics but can’t say with confidence that I see IJV compression. That doesn’t mean it’s not there. Hopefully others with a better eye for reading scans will give their opinions.

Yeah I was dealing with severe insomnia after surgery but it got bit better with meditation, magnesium L-Threonate and also took some10 mg amitryptyline but don’t know how much it helped. It is well known symptom for people who have IJV compression to suffer from insomnia. Not sure but the figure was something like 60% suffer from insomnia.

Thanks for the response. I will look into the stuff you mentioned. I am seeing a therapist for my anxiety so maybe that will help too. Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.

I have Trazodone (50 MG) that I split in half and take as needed off label for sleep. I have used that for years. Sometimes I don’t use it all month, other times several times a week to break a bad cycle of insomnia.
I didn’t realize how prevalent it is for ES. I guess I should have connected the dots…the fight or flight we get from it would = more insomnia.
I hope correcting ES makes it better.

Hi @rebelscum44, just wondering if you managed to find some solutions for your insomnia? Are you taking Amitriptyline 2 hours before bed? I was on a 20mg dose and it knocked me out for a good 8 hours (while propped up leaning slightly into a pillow toward my good side). But I also stay up very late (midnight bedtime at the earliest) and consequently wake late, to help work with the insomnia as much as I can.
Unfortunately in my case the Amitriptyline started causing bad anxiety so I stopped after 5 days of use but it was good while it lasted.
I found though if I took it right before bed it wasn’t as effective and when I did fall asleep, I’d have real difficulty waking.
