Back to work

Hello All,

I wonder when you got back to work after your c1 shaving and styloidectomy surgery?

I waited a long time for the surgery as no doctors in Canada knew what I had. In the meantime I developed severely engorged emissary veins, benign intracranial hypertension, and high riding jugular bulb and diverticulum.

I had my surgery December 17th 2025, I don’t feel functional one bit based on today’s symptoms.

I’m sorry that you’re not feeling good still after your surgery, perhaps you’ll need the other side doing too to feel the full benefit? Going back to work varies so much, as recovery varies with everyone, and can’t always be compared…if alot of digging about is needed to remove the styloid, then it will take longer to heal. If you’re able to keep off work longer that would be good, it doesn’t sound as if you’re ready, it’s a big surgery & it’s only been about 4 weeks :hugs:

Sorry you’re not feeling any relief yet. Were you working prior to your decompression? Are your symptoms worse now than prior to the surgery?

Hi,

I was not working before surgery. I do feel some relief since the surgery but I have benign intracranial hypertension as my IJV was compressed for so long before surgery.

Also I have fluids in the mastoid air cells and middle ear since surgery which is normal.

Im very sorry you have not improved, hopefully it’s just too soon post surgery. I was off work 8 wks after both surgeries, should’ve been longer with second surgery, but that is the length of time my job will pay. Although now i have slightly decreased my hours, because i have a long commute and trying to work still having symptoms.
