Just stumbled across this video on YouTube by MSK neurology. Kjetil agrees largely with what I’ve been saying lately on the forum regarding chin tucking and the risk of IJV compression by styloids. He talks about the research, and his writeup of the research can be found in the bio of the video.
I will also add that he says the best posture to increase styloid-C1 space is by being as tall as possible in the neck with a slightly forward head/chin. This chronically would lead to military neck, which many members on the forum have. I theorized months ago on this forum that many of us have military neck due to subconsciously engaging in military neck posture to open the styloid-C1 space, and that prolotherapy and curve correction exercises may actually make symptoms worse by shortening the styloid-C1 space. So just some things to keep in mind.
Thanks for sharing this!
I agree. I have found that cervical tucking exercises were a disaster for my ES pre surgery. Currently, I am reluctant to engage in that movement post surgery.
How are you doing with your recovery @babsbr ? ![]()
I’m recovering well! Going to the gym 2-3 times a week, walking a bit, back at work 4 days a week, I even worked a special event. I feel like I have 2 or 3 good days, over do it a bit and then crash out and sleep for a day. However, everyday I get a little more energy. I’m meeting with Dr. C next week and then I will give a formal update on my case thread. But 90% of my facial spasms resolved. Still cautiously optimistic.
That’s great progress @babsbr!
