Cervical prolotherapy and vascular eagle syndrome symptoms?

Hi all,

Curious as to whether any community members have received prolotherapy or picl in their upper cervical spine, and whether that alleviated some ES symptoms? This question might be more relevant for those who have/had internal jugular vein compression? Obviously there’s a difference between cervical instability and ES, but I can see a world in which some of us may be having the styloid-C1 pinch and thinking it’s our styloids to blame and not really our spine, even though it could be that our C1 is slowly sliding forward and causing the compression? Dr. Ross Hauser in Florida seems to be quite knowledgeable about the intermingling of ES and cervical instability.

I bring this up mainly because most of my symptoms are IJV compression related: pressure headaches, pulsating tinnitus, brain fog, etc. would be phenomenal if some needles to the back of the neck could help me avoid surgery lol

We’ve had a number of members who’ve seen Dr. Hauser & had prolotherapy prior to being diagnosed w/ ES, & the vast majority said it was a huge waste of money as it didn’t help. Prolotherapy in theory sounds great, however, it just doesn’t deliver what it promises for ES patients.

Atlas Orthogonal Chirpractic treatments have temporarily helped some of our members, & Dr. Middleton, who’s also in FL, is one of the best if you’re going to travel that far. However, in the end, the only way to get long-term relief from the symptoms you’re experiencing is to get your styloid cut back as close to your skull base as possible, & if that doesn’t allow the IJV to open, then during the same surgery, either moving it away from C1, or having a bit shaved off of the TP of C1 to make the space the IJV needs, is the more permanent solution.

I agree with @Isaiah_40_31 , surgery is likely to be the only ‘cure’…

I have had extensive prolotherapy and PRP with Dr. Hauser for severe upper cervical instability. Dr. Hauser also diagnosed me with bilateral vascular Eagles Syndrome. Dr. Hauser is a world reknown expert in his field and is extreme knowledgeable. I wouldn’t discount what he has to say … just know that for his treatments to be effective one has to follow his treatment protocol which can be very intensive. Otherwise, it doesn’t wotk.
