CT Angiography (CTA) is this helpful

My doctor has ordered the test above. Would this show eagles? I feeling very concerned about my head pressure and I haven’t heard back from my neurologist yet. I asked to be referred back into the nhs for a neurologist, but where I live there is no neurology department or private neurologist.

That’s really frustrating- it would show ES, but given you might have IJV compression, you need a CT venogram, CTV , either instead of or as well. It can all be done in the same procedure, they inject the contrast, take the CT images as it goes through the arteries, and then take more images as it goes through the veins as well. But with just a CTA, they would only take images of the arteries, which might not be helpful for you. If you’re able to get back in contact with your doctor, ask that they change this to include a CTV as well, it shouldn’t be a problem so no reason why they should refuse :crossed_fingers:

Thank you. She was quite adamant that she would only ask for the CT angiogram. I’m seeing Dr Saunders in Bristol next week to see if he can at least order the tests to check. I’m having to pay as insurance won’t cover him, but if I have got eagles then I hope can help me or refer me to Dr Axon. As I’m so unwell, I had to go with the closest. I would be covered for Dr Hughes but he wants first consult in person, and I can’t travel to London like this. I still can’t get a neurologist. I may have to go back to Stoke, which is over 2 hours. If it isn’t eagles, then at least I can rule it out.

I’m sorry for the struggle you’re having just to get diagnosed or not, @Hamonrye. I have to say your symptoms sure align with what we know ES can cause. I hope Dr. Saunders will be very helpful & you’ll get the CT scan order you need & a referral to Dr. Axon if the CT results show what we suspect they will.

Thank you. I just hope I’ll be okay to travel. I have to do something.

I’m sorry that this is such a pain for you, travelling is so hard with those symptoms! I don’t know if the IIH group is helpful at all with neurologists?
