Dr. Appt with Keith Sale

Hello everyone, I thought I’d let you know that I finally have an appointment with one of the specialists in April! I’m going to get checked out, and if he also recommends surgery I will probably travel out of state for a more experienced doctor with surgery. I am unsure if I should call again and ask if he wants my CT results, as they did not ask but I feel it would be beneficial. I only have a disk of my ct scan, so I’m unsure of how I would exactly get this to him.

Onto some other good news. My GERD extreme symptoms have stopped because of my transition to mostly liquid medicine. I do believe it was one certain capsule medicine causing me such pain. Currently my acid reflex is acting up with NORMAL symptoms because I haven’t taken my anti acid recently. I also got a wedge pillow which seems to be helping somewhat.

Also as of a few days, my styloid areas have been aching very painfully. It’s not anything debilitating, but it’s enough to make me tired and want to sleep it off. I believe I’ve experienced this before, but not recently enough to remember that it happens.

I appreciate everyone’s advice and help. It always means a lot to someone like me who is unexperienced and young.

I’m glad that you have an appointment with Dr Sale , I hope that this helps…I would call ahead and ask if they want your CT results, it might save time during the appointment and you have enough time to sort it if they do. I’m not sure of the US healthcare system as I’m in the UK, usually here your records would all be digital so any test results should be able to be seen (although it doesn’t always work!). Hopefully others with more US & technical abilities could give you advice about that!
Good news that your GERD symptoms have stopped! And that the wedge pillow helps a bit too. When you’re styloid area is aching you could try either heat and/ or ice in the area if you haven’t already. Some members have used either topical lidocaine or lidocaine patches which help, maybe worth a try? Thank you for your update :hugs:

@EMB2004 - I’m so glad you made an appointment to see Dr. Sale. As @Jules mentioned, CT results are often available to doctors digitally, but we still have some doctors on our list who want an physical CD to look at in their offices. Some don’t fully trust the radiology reports & like to make their own assessments of the CT images. Styloids have been found to be longer than expected once surgery is done. It’s well known that CT images aren’t totally accurate so the reality of each patients situation becomes more obvious once surgery is being performed.

It is good news that your GERD symptoms have stopped. I’ve often wondered if Rx antacids wouldn’t create too low of an acid environment in the stomach thus causing an inability for digestion to occur normally. Maybe that’s what happened to you?

The pain caused by the styloid(s) does tend to come & go & can be gone for quite a while before flaring up again. I’m sorry you’re in a time of symptoms flare now that your GERD symptoms are so much improved. I hope you get to see Dr. Sale soon!
