Does anyone have information about a connection? Not much out there. I have Eagles diagnosis on left, and 2 brain aneurysms discovered on left carotid, petrous and ophthalmic segments.
@Colorgenie -Welcome to our forum! You’ve asked a good question.
The internal carotid artery (ICA) can be irritated or compressed by an elongated styloid process. When this occurs, stroke-like symptoms or possibly a full blown stroke can occur as the irritation to the artery can cause clot formation.
I looked up the petrous & ophthalmic segments of the internal carotid artery to see where they are along the ICA. The petrous segment is in an area where the styloid process, depending on its angle of growth, could contact it thus stirring up clot activity.
Since it is known that ES can create problems with the ICAs, there is a possibility that what you’ve experienced is caused by your left styloid process irritating your left ICA.
