So I’ve seen Professor Paul and told him everything that has been happening since July ulcers and all also the history of my eagle syndrome started 2019 he’s like it’s pretty big but I believe he would be able to remove it . Also the deviated septum is bad he’s like it’ll be good idea to do it after eagle syndrome .
He told me there isn’t much he can do I’ve already seen many doctors because of the ulcers he’s like well it might be geographic tongue but a quite aggressive for of it
He advised just go on with the surgery on Friday .
He knows Mr Hughes, he told me Mr Hughes was his student and he’s happy to hear that he’s doing well
I hope he doesn’t tell Mr Hughes I’ve went to him he might get upset .
I’m pretty nervous tho hopefully I can get it over with to be able to start sleeping normal again
I believe it’s time to remove it already , I just had wine yesterday at church after Christmas carols
And it aggravated my symptoms a lot the throat and tongue etc my tongue on right side ( this is where the bigger eagle syndrome is , the one getting removed ) was numb because it .
I’m glad that he’s aware of ES; would he have done the surgery if you’d not got a date arranged with Mr Hughes?
So you’re going ahead on Friday then? Will pray all goes well & that the surgery is helpful!
I’m glad Prof Paul told you you’re on the right track. It’s also good that your surgery is coming up so soon! FINALLY! Interesting that Prof Paul mentioned your tongue problem could be “geographic tongue”. I’ve never heard of that but will look it up.
I hope Mr. Hughes will cut your styloid nice & short so you have a good outcome. I’m sorry the wine you drank aggravated your symptoms. It may be some of the chemicals in the wine (besides the grape juice) or the alcohol itself caused the problems. I hope they’ve settled down now.
I’ve had a couple of head injuries & have 0 alcohol tolerance now so don’t drink alcohol. There are lots of other yummy things to drink so I don’t feel I’m missing anything.
I don’t know about that medication , definitely best to check with Mr Hughes before you take any more, it would be a shame to have your surgery cancelled again, it might interfere with the anaesthetic… Praying that you feel peace and your anxiety eases
@OMM9420 - Today work on focusing on all the good things that come from having your styloids shortened. There are so many more people who have benefitted from the surgery than have had adverse results. Imagine how well you’ll feel once you’ve healed. That’s a better approach than looking at the negatives. Trust God to provide the outcome you need to start feeling better. As a Christian, when I get agitated or fearful, I ask God to show me His perspective & to give me peace. He has been consistent in doing both. Trust that you’re in His hands first & that Mr. Hughes is God’s instrument of healing for you.
@OMM9420 The mind is a very powerful tool for healing but it also has a default negativity bias. Try to catch yourself whenever you find your mind predicting a negative future and consciously shift to envisioning the future you want for yourself and how good you will feel. Try to feel that in your whole body. It’s okay to feel anxious, it’s just a message that you care about something. You can work with that feeling by naming it, maybe locating where it is in your body and giving yourself messages of safety. Extended exhalation breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system and helps calm things down. Try breathing in to the count of 4 and breathing out to the count of 8. Anxious thinking is different than feeling anxious so notice when you are caught up in that and shift your attention to the present moment to notice that you are essentially alright right now. Your heart is beating, your lungs are working, you have identified people who want to help you, you are in this community of supported people so you are not alone, hopefully there is food in your fridge, walls and a roof to your home keeping you protected from the weather. So much to be grateful for. This helps calm the alarm system of your brain. Hope that helps.
I would imagine that Mr Hughes will monitor the facial nerve to ensure it’s not damaged- it can get irritated with surgery sometimes, but this resolves with time. The jury is out on neck destabilisation (for people with CCI, AAI or hypermobility, having the styloids removed if you don’t have any of those it should be fine!), even doctors don’t agree, & it’s only for those conditions mentioned…We all get nervous before a surgery, it’s a big decision, unfortunately with ES, it doesn’t go away.
