Flosomax and ES surgery

Hello, I’m new. I tried post a few days ago (pain in throat / neck / jaw is so bad, it hurts to even type). I have a question regarding the medication flosomax for osteoporosis. I was diagnosed with ES by one facility Dec 30, 2025.

Being that the styloid process is in close proximity to the jaw (ie., maxilla, mandible), I believe they do not share the same blood supply. I am still very worried.

There is a serious medical condition using certain osteo medications, that can happen if bone is fragmented in the jaw (maxilla and mandible) and the bone can become necrotic. Note: Example would be getting teeth pulled and getting teeth implants. My teeth are fine but I’m worried. I consulted with my PCP and they agreed I should stop taking this medication (note: I only started flosomax 2 months ago). I hope this post finds you all well. All of you are my heroes (I can cry). This pain is the worst pain and experience of my life. There is more to my story, but I’ll share some of it later.

Hi & welcome!
I’m glad that you don’t have to wait too long for your appointment, but as your PCP has agreed it’s best not to take it for now then that sounds like a good idea…I wouldn’t think it would be an issue with ES surgery, but personally the less meds you’re on when you’re having the surgery the better, in my non-medical opinion!

Hi there, Jules!
I have a set back AGAIN (I’m so stressed with all of this). I have the vocal fry and the last ENT did find my right side is partially paralyzed). Talking and head movements are worst. Pain is bad, unbearable.

The flosomax is on hold. Also, I’m going to seek different osteo medication. I don’t think I really should be on it (too many weird side effects).

I’m going to need our community more than ever. I hope you are doing well.

I’m sorry for the insurance issues, but great that you were able to change to a different insurance so quickly! I hope January seems to fly by!

You can try icing your neck for 15 min every couple of hours or using lidocaine patches (either OTC or Rx) on your neck while you wait for your appointment.

Oh no, that’s such a pain (literally!) about the insurance…I hope the time goes quickly for you until you can make another appointment. I’m UK so am quite bewildered by your insurance system, UK is free, but the waiting times can be over a year, so it’s not great either!
I don’t know much about the osteoporosis meds, I can’t remember which one my Mum was on but I do know it all sounded a bit scary- taking it first thing before anything to drink, & having to sit upright for half an hour? But then osteoporosis is not good either…I hope you can find a better medication to take :hugs:
