I’m heading into surgery this morning. Dr Krespi intraoral approach. I’ve waited a year for this and I know it will be a slow process but on the other side of this I’ll be able to begin healing and getting my life back.
Wishing you the best!
Best wishes @Lisabeth1555 , and praying that it’s successful for you; you’ve had a long wait! Let us know how you are when you’re up to it
I’m so glad you’ve finally had your surgery. I’m also looking forward to hearing how your surgery goes & how you’re feeling post op when you feel up to posting.
Hey y’all. Surgery went well. I woke up crying in a lot of pain but within a couple hours it was managed and my girlfriend took me home. I believe there are stitches in the back of my throat and that’s the worst thing I’ve got going on at the moment. So many symptoms are gone. I’m so happy.
What a great report, @Lisabeth1555! The first week post op can be pretty rough from a pain & swelling standpoint, but it’s great to know you’re already feeling relief from some of your symptoms. You’re in very early recovery so things may get more painful again before they get better for good, but I hope not!
Sipping ice water & sucking on ice cubes or fruit juice popsicles can help with throat pain & swelling. Sleeping with your head elevated this week especially can also help reduce swelling in your throat.
You know we’re here if you have questions as you heal. It sounds like you’re off to a great start toward recovery.
Speedy recovery
I’m so grateful for this forum. It’s so lonely having a rare condition and being invalidated my doctors. Having y’all here kept me going knowing there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
@Lisabeth1555 Sending you healing thoughts
I’m glad that you’ve found some symptoms have gone already, that’s great news! Recovery can be up & down, swelling often peaks about 3-5 days, so you could have a worse few days ahead, but don’t panic, it’s quite normal…Second the advice @Isaiah_40_31 has given you too, take care of yourself and praying that you heal well
Please. Can you say the name & location of your surgeon?
Am having awful time finding a surgeon. My ES diagnosis is accurate.
Dr Yosef Krespi at Northwell in New York
@Shivaree , if you were thinking about travelling to the US for surgery, our Canadian members have seen Dr Cognetti in PA, or Dr Hackman in NC on the east coast if that’s closer for flying…
