I’m curious about what might trigger Eagle Syndrome symptoms. For me, some days are marked by intense pain while on other days I barely feel uany discomfort in my throat, neck, or ear. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what seems to trigger your bad days?
hi @needanswers
oh with me its up and down helter skelter as well. It may be my head position in sleep, or or if i turned my head carelessly a bit to far. some pains are immediate reactions to movements, some pains delayed.
Taking painkillers, makes my pains worse after the painkillers stopped working. I think thats because i dont amend my headposture immediately, as i dont feel the pain…
Pain also worsens delayed after I tried working out a bit or doing a quick spontaneous run for the bus.
It does seem to be very common, symptoms flaring for no apparent reason, then easing again for no obvious reason! We have had a few discussions about this…As @Gerty says, it could be sleeping position, or head position during the day, for example looking down at a computer or phone, exercise is a common trigger, sometimes talking alot, the weather can affect some members’ symptoms, for women hormones seem to play a part too!
Laying flat made mine worse, getting cold, & exercise.
With me is the way around I need flat pillows, but also wearing something that covers my neck, headphones, stress, and lying on the wrong side, all of that can trigger my symptoms. Thanks all for sharing yours.
A good day means doing more, moving, chatting more, more head movements and occasionally feeling half alright. The next day, brought back down to earth for my naive complacency
For me, wearing glasses brings on all of my symptoms at their worst, wearing contact lenses takes them all away. Talking always makes it worse regardless but it’s more bearable when wearing my contact lenses. I’ve come to the conclusion that I have BVD and a head tilt & my glasses and contact lenses correct or make the head tilt worse.
One member mentioned that glasses couldn’t be worn at all because it was too painful behind the ears, maybe that slight pressure is contributing @Skatkat ?
Same here with head position bringing on feeling like death! & any slight exertion constricts throat & head pressure etc. When I had an MRA scan a couple of months ago, lying in same position on back for 45 mins keeping head/neck still was a killer. Afterwards felt like I honestly would collapse. Head pressure, awful neck pain, feeling sick, legs all weak had to sit for ages recovering. Definitely certain angles of head/neck in the same positions causing pressing on vessels & so on & brings it on horribly!
