hi everyone. I hope someone might have some input on this.I was scheduled to get a ph impedance test.(test that confirms if you have acid reflux )since my symptoms are all over the place esp I have the right side of the roof of my mouth numb and also achy, grinding, crunchy and pressure in teeth and throat and duloxetine is making me feel worse;/ . Im only a week from taking it but thinking of stopping it .
Sorry for TMI but I have to have a bucket next to me due to extreme salivation and at the same time my mouth is very dry . Would this procedure potentially create more symptoms/irritate my throat since I have to have a thin tube placed inside my nose /throat for 24 hs? I am not looking forward to it but just hate to take PPIS (which I’ve done before such as nexus 20mg twice a day w no help) but wanted to know if someone has done this exam or recommends doing just to rule out symptoms that are coming from my eagle or not . Also all my symptoms flared up after a silly doctor that was doing an endoscopy in July decided to dilate my esophagus . Im eating a bland diet since then.Appreciate any comments , I know Es causes glossopharyngeal issues but wanted to know if I should do this as well before getting looking into surgery . Also do you recommend anything in your daily lives to alleviate any mouth teeth pain ? all my best Eli
I don’t know about the ph test you’re looking at having, so can’t comment on that I’m afraid…I can’t recall other members mentioning it either.
For teeth pain, the nerve pain medications can help with that- like Gabapentin, Amitriptyline, Carbamazepine etc They can take a little while to build up in your system enough to help, so might not work straight away, & can be worth trying different ones as it varies with which ones help each person… For burning mouth, a solution of bicarbonate of soda can help used as a mouth rinse.
I had extreme salivation when I had GERD and was taking medication for it. Apparently the medication was causing rebound GERD and water brash. Annoying because the medication is supposed to help but it was just making it worse. I ended up stopping the medication and it got worse for a couple of days then cleared up. Not sure if this is the same in your case. Not sure about the ph test as I’ve never had that. Also I had low levels of b12 which can cause mouth symptoms.
I’m very sorry you are experiencing that burning pain that is one of the worst things for me that comes with ES. Hopefully you can find an answer and relief quickly.
I had problems of which I thought that might be heartburn or reflux but actually not where the heart is but more in the throat. Heartburn meds like acid neutralizers didn’t help. I figured out that it might come from stressed nerves when I over did activities that come with head or jaw movement. Last time, I had that during the last two hours of my slightly bumpy 10h flight to Denver on Wed. Took some Oxy and NSAR and did Novafon during the flight bc of that, but it only subsided completely after visiting the next dispensary after arrival.
So in my case at least I’m thinking that is from nerves causing a buring feeling in the throat area on the left. Don’t know but maybe that information is helpful for you. Wishing you all the best for quick answers and pain relief.
