Help with CT scan without contrast

Hello all,

I just wanted to include some photos from my CT scan today without contrast. I was wondering if anyone could help with landmarks/ suggestions etc. Im having a tricky time. I’ve posted once before and I’m hoping to finally get some answers to issues I’ve been dealing with. I’ve had tinnitus in my right ear since I was 23 (31 now). I have clicking in my right TMJ (but not my left). I have been getting awful sinus infections in my left sinus, and starting 3 days ago I had my first ever “ice pick" headache, random times during the day it feels like a brain freeze/ ice pick smacking behind my left eye last a few seconds, then gone. This is completely new for me, but tbh kinda scary I cant talk/ do anything when it happens. When it comes to eagle syndrome symptoms I have “military neck", pain/ tension in my shoulders/ neck that I did months of physical therapy to help with (with no avail). I also have POTS like symptoms (posture changes like even emptying the dishwasher can set off ringing/ dizziness). Anyway if anyone could help me I’d appreciate it so much - & if you think more images/ slices would help please like!

I’m not good with tech, so I’m not able to label any images, and not confident with what I’m seeing either! It looks like some calcification in this image on the left side of the vertebra:

And the two very small dots above the vertebra in the image:

But I can’t see any obviously elongated styloids in the other images I’m afraid- normally they show up really well on a CT.
The head ache/ ice pick pain you describe sounds very much like neuralgia, I would guess from the trigeminal nerve as it was around your eye?
I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful…hopefully others will take a look! :hugs:

@Alisha - Is it possible for you to convert your images to 3D using either radiantviewer.com (for PCs) or Bee Dicom Viewer App (for Macs)? It would be very helpful for us to better tell what’s going on in your neck. Unfortunately, I’m in @Jules situation with not being able to tell exactly what I’m seeing in the images you posted.

Some of the symptoms you’ve mentioned are seen w/ ES & as @Jules suggested the ice pick headache behind your eye could be from your trigeminal nerve, however, it’s concerning to me that you can’t talk or do anything when that happens as it almost sounds like it could be a type of TIA (mini-stroke). POTS-like symptoms also suggest there could be something vascular going on for you. As you may have read, the styloids &/or calcified stylohyoid ligaments can cause compression of the internal jugular vein(s) &/or the internal (& sometimes external) carotid artery(ies) thus POTS & TIAs can be caused by ES as can the sinus & shoulder issues you’re experiencing.
