I'm back - surgery with Dr Axon

I’m so sorry that you’ve pain in so much pain- again- and had the hospital visits…great that you had a sympathetic doctor at least though! I completely understand that just getting through each day is hard enough, so if opioids do help with the pain, I’d feel the same as you!
Not too long for the fusion surgery then, I hope that helps, and they give you some decent pain relief!
I think I did mention the Neuro who did a balloon decompression for my aunt for her TN- Mr Vajramani, he does regular days at Southampton General…?
The Trigeminal nerve I think does innervate the lacrimal glands in the eyes, which produce moisture, my guess was that’s possibly the link between ES, TN & SjS, but I’ve never found any science to back that up!
And you are not an Eagle imposter, your styloids are huge, we believe you have ES! Love to you, & hope that you can float pain-free through Christmas :folded_hands: :hugs: :santa_claus:

So thankful that you finally got some medical advocacy, @Mcwelly, & now have a date for your fusion. Only a month away now after all your waiting. I’m sad to read about your recent horrific pain but am so thankful for the compassionate doctor who sat with you & help your hand in the hospital. That is so rare these days!

I say “ditto” to everything @Jules said about the opioids & wishes for you to have a pain free Christmas & even up to your surgery - at the very least, a pain controlled period till your fusion surgery.

Here’s a Merry Christmas :hugs: & also sending my love to you & your family.

Thank you all. There are a good team of neurosurgeons at SGH and mr Shenouda is widely regarded as one of the best - not talking about ES - only now that I am so desolately unwell have doctors stopped suggesting psych causes or anxiety or telling me to read a book on mindfulness etc. They are openly talking about the ES diagnosis now but the fusion is first step as weird neuro symptoms are well me brain stem, vascular may be involved: labile BP, hypothermia, bradycardia and slow resps. Op day won’t be a day too soon, as petrifying as it is. Blessings and love to you all :heart:

That does sound really horrible, I’m so sorry that you had to get so poorly before they would take you seriously, it’s appalling :hugs:

Really a shame that you were pushed to “the brink” before the causes of your symptoms were acknowledged, @Mcwelly. I’m putting your fusion date on my calendar so I can pray for your surgery & will be mindful to keep praying for your recovery to give you significant symptoms relief. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
