Hello all - I’m just wondering if anyone else has these weird symptoms? I have just finished prolo for my CCI and it’s pretty much resolved. I flew home on an overnight flight and the tinnitus woke me as usual (with no head pain) - I was seated. I noticed it was definitely louder when it woke me as I could hear it clearly over the aeroplane noise - it had been much quieter earlier. I’ve always noticed its gains intensity overnight when it wakes me. Last night home in bed - it woke me with noise intensity, tremors, heat and pain racing around my head. I felt sensation in my torso which I have previously but not for a while. I have bilateral vascular eagles - compression 0.3 was measured in April and am seeing Dr Elliott in August. Does anyone experience anything like this? It happens every 2 hours and only overnight when awakening from sleep. I can lie down during the down and nothing happens. I have no idea what is going on. Thankyou
How great that prolo helped your CCI. We haven’t had many members who have been helped by prolo, but I expect there are different approaches for it which could make the difference between it helping & not.
My tinnitus flares at night because I clench my teeth when I sleep (in spite of wearing a night guard). I’m wondering if you’re doing something similar when you sleep at night but not during the day when you lie down. Since you have bilateral IJV compression, and if you’re clenching your teeth when you sleep, it’s possible nerves & vascular outflow from your brain are being affected by the muscle tension that results from clenching, and the results are the symptoms you’re experiencing. The feelings of heat & pain can be caused by nerve irritation which would also make sense if you’re clenching. Sensation in your torso, especially abdominal area, can be caused by your vagus nerve being irritated which, again, could come from clenching your teeth while asleep.
Are you sleeping w/ your head elevated at night? That can help reduce tinnitus & vascular symptoms, too.
Thankyou Isaiah - will give more pillows a go tonight. I hope the prolotherapy has worked - Dr Hauser seemed to think so - I had 8 sessions. I need an xray in 3 months to confirm it is stable.
I’m glad too that the prolo seems to have helped! As @Isaiah_40_31 mentioned if you’re not sleeping very propped up, it could be the build up of head pressure overnight is making the tinnitus worse? See if the elevating your head improves it at all…
Thanks Jules! I’m home now so used two pillows with a cervical pillow on top - pleased to report no pain but my tinnitus is definitely going crazy - I took 1/2 sleeping tablet 3 times during the night - that’s more than usual xnd I hope my Dr will allow me a higher prescription as it’s the only way I get any sleep. Dr Hauser said my head pressure had halved - I hope Dr Elliott can help and that everything is caused by compresuon when I’m sleeping.
@Gina1961 - I suspect you’ll get some good results w/ head pressure reducing once you have your IJV(s) decompressed. It can take some months after the decompression for the brain to acclimate to the new level of blood flow so results may not be immediate. Also, if you have bilateral compression, you may need to get both sides done for the best results. A number of our members have found that to be true.
I’m glad sleeping w/ 2 pillows helped reduce your pain. I’m sorry the tinnitus is still so annoying though. I sympathize.
Poor you, that’s rough not being able to get much sleep, I hope you can get something to help…less pain is good though
Hi did they offer surgery to address the vascular eagles?
I haven’t seen Dr Elliott yet
