Styloid surgery [oral] with diabetes

My wife is meeting with surgeons in 2 1/2 weeks to discuss possible surgery, oral approach, re bi-lateral elongated styloids. Added to her general anxiety about the prospect of the surgery is her concern about managing her blood sugar levels post-surgery as she is insulin dependent [26 years]. We would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had this experience who might offer suggestions about how to manage it. With thanks..... David
