@Kit_Cat yeah it came later than I was expecting too. I remember wondering if I missed anything, but you haven’t.
Awesome. I think you meant no complications but numb ear?
Any surprises when they got in. Was C1 involved, resection?. Don’t rush to answer as you likely recovering
How long in Hospital Stamford?
You hanging around for awhile?
Mine is 1:30 July 23
Thank you and I hope you have a restful recovery!
@Bmmac yeah sorry, no complications except numb ear which is slowly slowly coming back online. I was at Northern Westchester for a night and then went back to hotel next morning. There was a surprise I think in that the anatomy of the parotid was lower down and it led to other structures including nerve bundle being squished and harder to work around/through. It did include the C1 shave and complete decompression as is their standard. Honestly when you look at the surgical pictures of what Dr. C and Dr. T have to work with, they are basically magicians in my book.
Plus, they really cared, came and visited me after and everything. I am so lucky they were the ones who operated, because I think if it had been almost any other people on this earth I would not have emerged unscathed..
I’m heading back home Saturday by plane, and the surgery was the 15th.
Thank you for sharing your op experience & a little of your post op, too, @Dave. I’m really glad the surgery is behind you & your recovery is moving forward. I hope you continue to notice improvements daily especially since it sounds like your surgery was somewhat complicated. ![]()
This is excellent news. Glad you are doing so well. I will check in with you maybe next week
How did you get pricing for hospital?
Was it Jules??
Did you do pre surgery testing with Constantino? Like Venogram?
I have appt in August with Dr. Pereira TO clinic as they have copy of my CTA…with contrast
Which was pretty fast. Sent in June.
I have consult with Constantino next Tuesday
I hear the venogram in Toronto can be brutal
Sorry to bug you. Hope today is a good day.![]()
@Bmmac the pricing for the hospital came from hospital; they sent an estimate direct to me and then called me.
@Bmmac Dr. Costantino asked for a CT venogram to be done if I remember correctly, which was not too bad, just like a CT but with contrast. Other than that I just provided MRI I think.
Yeah I’ll update as I go along here and hopefully things keep trending in good direction.
@Dave , so pleased that your surgery seems to have gone well, & I hope your recovery goes smoothly, brilliant that you’ve seen some improvements already!
Take care ![]()
@Bmmac & @Kit_Cat hope that your consults next week go well!
Thank you @Jules !
@Jules , thank you for your kind words and support. Your insights prior to surgery really helped calm my mind and gain context.
@Isaiah_40_31 thank you so much! Your advice prior to surgery when I was uncertain was very helpful for me. The surgery definitely hits hard to start. I am getting a sense now of the ‘wave’-like nature of the recovery. Yesterday I was pretty energetic, today it is like I got hit by a truck and sleeping. But underneath I can still sense the improvement, so it takes time.
It’s easy sometimes to overdo things when you’re having a good day (especially when you’ve had lots of bad days prior to surgery!), & that can make symptoms worse the next day, so it’s important to take things steady…not saying you did that but just to be mindful… Best wishes & hope you keep seeing improvements ![]()
@Jules yeah I think there was an element of relief to start. Perplexing thing now is that before the surgery on right side, turning or tilting my head to the right or scrunching my right shoulder up would give me double/ blurred vision. Not so on the left that I remember. It was 75% on right and is 50-60% compressed on left.
Now after surgery on right side, turning head turn/tilt to the right or scrunching my right shoulder does nothing, my vision is fine.
But…now those same visual symptoms that are gone on the right are happening if I do the same movements on the left side (ie turn/tilt head or scrunch). I do not understand it…
Hi there got my link today
I also got mine! I hope your consultation goes really well!
Yes good luck to you too
That’s weird, the joy of Eagles! Symptoms do seem to ramp up after surgery on the other side; whether it’s because removing one side shifts everything in the neck slightly, & sometimes I think the worst side can mask symptoms from the less affected side… Hope things keep improving for you ![]()
